A small adventure

The first thing you notice about Max, is her hair. Max's hair is very, very long, and this certainly should come as a surprise, because Max is only seven years old.

Max thinks that maybe it is too long, because she always gets it tangled, but Max's father will not take her to get it cut. He liked to pull on it sometimes, and it was easier if it was longer.

Max's father was always kissing and touching her and her sister Annabelle. And one day, he started hitting them too.

Max had been more scared than usual today, because her father was angrier than most days. He was cussing and pulling on Annabelle's hair when she had climbed out of the bathroom window to go on a small adventure.

'Only small.' She'd thought to herself.
