Cruzing in the Storm (Cars 3 fanfic)

Chapter eleven:

Cruz sat in the car sadly as she ate her ice cream quietly. Sally sat beside her, texting Lightning. 

Sally: Hey, you alright? 

Lightning: no, i don't know what went wrong

I just wanted to help her see...

Sally sighed as she turned her phone off. "you feeling better?" Sally asked as Cruz nodded. "do you want to talk about it?" Sally added. "i messed up didn't i?" she blurted out as she looked ahead at the empty parking lot. "No you didn't. look, I love Lightning with all of my heart and i know how stubborn he can get, but i do think he meant well..." Sally said as Cruz nodded.

"i just... wanted something special...like you guys have..." Cruz spoke almost crying. "I know you do..." Sally patted her back. "But why does Lightning hate Jackson so much?" Cruz turned to Sally. "I don't know, he thinks that Jackson is using you..." Sally sighed once more.

"But he isn't...is he?" Cruz turned to Sally. She looked down and bit her lip deciding whether to tell her or not...she finally came to a conclusion: she needed to know...

"Lightning was, walking by when he overheard Jackson on the phone, he was talking to his coach about, distracting you...from racing" Sally said Scared. "...oh" Cruz spoke out, squeezing the cup of ice cream until the ice cream oozed out. "I dont know if thats the full truth-" "of course it Is...how could I be so stupid" Cruz muttered as she opened the door and started to walk out.

"Wait!" Sally called as she ran after her.

Jackson drove around trying to find Cruz until he noticed Cruz walking through the parking lot across the street. He got out of his car as he started to walk towards her until he noticed Sally running after her as well. "Cruz! Please Wait!" Sally begged as she chased after the younger girl.

"Cruz-" "HOW COULD I BE SO STUPID?!" Cruz yelled out as she stopped. Jackson gasped a bit as he his behind his car, but still listened.

"How could I think that, this stupid, charming...kind racer..Ever like me.." She mumbled as tears trailed down her cheeks. Jackson listened and frowned, feeling horrible. "He made me like him..just to use me..its funny cause I always kinda had a thing for him, I felt bad..he was always lonely and I remember when I use to be like that.." Cruz added as Jackson gasped a bit.

"...Cruz" Sally spoke as she reached a hand out to Cruz who slapped it away. "I USE TO GO OUT OF MY WAY TO TALK TO HIM AND YOU KNOW WHAT I GOT? REJECTION, INSULTS, THINGS I NEVER DESERVED...all I did was try.. I'm so stupid.." Cruz kept repeating to herself as she pulled on her hair as she cried, falling on her knees. 

Jacksons eyes filled up with water, he hated that he did this to her..that he was forced to lie to her about so much things..to pretend to be this pretentious jerk that only cared about racing, even though all he wanted was a friend..

"Cruz listen to me, what he did was horrible! We all know that, but you still have me and Lightning and that's all you need, you need to forget about him" Sally said as Cruz looked up at her. "..your right" she said as she stood Up. "he may have broken my heart, but if he thinks that by all of this he's going to win he's dead WRONG" Cruz gritted her teeth.

"Thats the spirit!" Sally cheered. "You know what? I feel way better now, Jackson better pratice more, cause from now on, we have some serious bad blood.." Cruz said as she walked back with Sally. Jackson sighed as he sunk down. He messed up ALOT.
