< Things spoken in Korean will be in italics >
The next day at school you actually found yourself happy for some unknown reason walking through the dull hallways in your bright uniform. Even Mark had noticed the unusal smile playing across your face as he greeted you on the way to lunch.
"Why do you look so happy today?" He smiled as well, unable to hide it.
"What? Am I not allowed to be in a good mood?" You fired back.
"I'm sorry again about yesterday." He said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I hope Donghyuck was good to you."
You cheeks heated at the mention of Donghyuck for no reason whatsoever. "O-oh yeah! We actually had lots of fun together."
"I hope he didn't insult you too much."
You hit Mark playfully. "He was fine! Just because he insults you twenty four seven..." There was a pause. "I thought it'd be tough talking to each other but it was just fine."
"Speak of the devil." Mark sighs, and your head turned in the direction he was looking at. There was Donghyuck with the other members already waiting for you guys at the usual lunch table.
"___!" Donghyuck exclaimed your name. As Mark was about to take a seat next to him, he was rudely shoved aside by Donghyuck without a care in the world. "Let ___ sit next to me for once."
You turned to Mark for anwers, already confused. "He wants you to sit next to him..." Mark trailed off in some Korean most likely saying some unpleasant things about Donghyuck.
"Hey guys." You greeted everyone as you sat down, and they all said hi in return.
Donghyuk said something to you in Korean, but Mark was right on it. "He asked you if you were able to finish your Korean homework from yesterday."
"Oh, yes! Mark helped me." You say slowly, and for a minute you see some slight annoyance in his eyes at the mention of Mark's name, but you decide to shrug it off. "Do we, um." You struggle to find the right words in Korean, failing aimlessly. "Ugh, Mark can you ask Donghyuck when we have our dance class today because I forgot my schedule in my locker."
"When do you guys have dance today?" Mark turns to Donghyuck, you waiting expectantly for an answer as he immediately resonded. "He said last period."
"Oh thank god." You laugh, looking at Donghyuck while he went to ask Mark to tell you some more.
"Donghyuck I'm not telling ___ that she looks nice today. Get a Korean to English dictionary or something!"
"Why would I do that when I have a living breathing Korean to English dictionary right in front of me?" Donghyuck questions, losing his patience.
"I'm not going to sit here with you trying to flirt with her while I translate it for you!"
"I'm not flirting!"
"Donghyuck, I'm not saying that. Give it up."
Donghyuck visibly stiffened, defeated. "Fine. Then tell her that Yuta's mop lookin' hair from Firetuck is finally gone."
Mark was fed up. "You're unbelievable."
"What did he say?" You laughed, watching the two bicker back and forth about something unknown to you.
"Absolutely nothing." Mark replied without hesitation.
Donghyuck knew what Mark had just said. And with that, he was done at this point. Head resting in his hands, he couldn't take this language barrier anymore. Mark was always playing translator, and it was becoming annoying to Donghyuck.
He wanted to be able to talk to you without Mark overhearing every single conversation you had, and you could even feel his frustration. You understood though, because that's what you wanted too.
And at some point during his lunch, Donghyuck had decided for himself that he would start studying english more than he ever had before.
Donghyuck wanted to get to know you better. And if he had to learn another language to do so, he would.
