tap. tap. tap. tap. tap. Flicking my pencil up and down usually helped to distract me from my dull school life. Truth is, I don't really like school. I mean sure, I get straight As, do everything my parents instilled in me, and I even get all the ladies. But all of this makes me ponder on the age-old question: is there more to life than school? Is there more to life than following what my parents tell me to do? Guess I'll have to figure that out for myself. My brain bounces around the many ways my life could turn out. I stop and shake my head in an effort to quiet the noise but to my dismay, it only amplifies.

"Ryder, do you have the answer?" I look up to see my teacher, Mr.Rollins, and everyone else in the classroom looking at me. I glanced down at my paper, trying not to roll my eyes. I completed the problems in less than sixty seconds, of course, I had the answer.

"fifty-five" I muttered, feeling annoyed with every second that I'm glued to this cheaply made oak wood desk. I'd rather be anywhere else but here right now.

"Excellent as always Ryder!" Mr.Rollins voiced enthusiastically. This time I actually did roll my eyes before I went back to tapping my pencil at a metered pace. For some reason, I couldn't concentrate on anything except the noise in my mind. Maybe I just need some fresh air. I gently raised my arm in the air and cleared my throat.

"May I go to the restroom?" I asked politely.

"Sure thing Ryder", Mr. Rollins replied. I quickly got up from my seat and proceeded to go to the restroom scrolling through my phone on the way there. I open up Tumblr and decide to scroll through the aesthetic posts. I don't get it, what's so aesthetic about pouring glitter into coffee? I scoffed, people are idiots. Before I could scroll to the next mundane post, I found myself hurtling towards the disgusting white-tiled flooring. My phone going up in the air and landing on my face. Ouch, I thought to myself. I am definitely going to have a bruise in the morning. I quickly got up off the floor and dusted myself off. So much for keeping my outfit clean.

"Fuck" I heard a deep voice say. I looked across from me to see a guy with raven black hair, a skinny figure, and his hand rubbing his shoulder. I held out my hand to help him up.

"Sorry about that dude." I chuckled nervously. He grasped my hand and I helped him up. He gave me a small smile and proceeded to quickly walk away. Okay then, that was...odd. I have never seen that guy before, this is the first time I've ever seen him around our school. Curiosity got the best of me and soon my mind swirled with questions. Was he a new student? Where was he from? What was his name? I looked back at him, shrugged, and put my hands in my pocket. Even going back to class I forgot why I left in the first place. My mind was still with the nameless raven-haired boy. I decided to let it be a mystery for now, or at least I thought I did. Later at night, my mind still replayed his face over and over. I'm not sure why but there's something about him that seems so interesting. I have to get to know him.
