Bloodstained Flower

The sad af scene from the anime where Souji *sniff* died. *sniff*

Clanking sounds can be heard. Sparks flew when their blades clashed. He swung his sword gracefully, as if dancing. His emerald green eyes held a murderous glint. The only thought he had was, to kill them all.

To protect his vice-commander.

To serve his purpose as a sword and no more.

The men shouted as they charged towards him one by one. And one by one, they fell to his sword. Their leader faced him last. But even him too, had his sword cut through him ruthlessly. His scream of pain faded soon after he collapsed onto the others.

Silence filled the village of Edo once again.

He stood on the bleeding red dirt, donning a blood speckled blue coat over his kimono, his right hand tightly bound to his sword with bandage. Signifying his unyielding loyalty to the Shinsengumi. Laid in front of him was a pile of corpses. Or rather, lumps of flesh drowning in scarlet-coloured blood slowly seeping into the dry soil. He had finally completed his duty.

As the first division's captain.

As a proud member of Aizu's police force.

As the Shinsengumi's sword.

His cold gaze shifted to the cherry blossom tree towering over him on the edge of the path. He whispered a soft sigh of goodbye before leaving the world to join his companions. His body dissipated into ashes, scattering along with the sakura petals.

All left was his coat. The coat he wore for years.
The coat that was the proof of his devotion towards the Shinsengumi. It laid still before his blood coated sword that was thrusted into the ground. The loose bandages flew like flags with the night breeze.

A single blossom fell from the branches of the sakura. It landed on the coat. That full blown flower marked the end of Okita Souji. Yet it was so similar to him. A beautiful flower dyed red.

A bloodstained flower.
