Genevieve Parker was walking from school to her job, in the café near Leicester Square in London. It was raining, as it always was in autumnal London. Genevieve walked past a mirrored window and sighed, she was soaked and she'd only been walking for five minutes. She looked at herself in the reflection, she wasn't the most attractive girl in the world but she wasn't unattractive, she was average. She had long black hair tied in a ponytail, deep blue eyes with an angular face, high cheekbones, thin lips, she was also tall with pale skin, she wasn't fat or thin, she was curvy. She didn't look anything like her sister, Charli, who was a bright eyed blonde with round features and pouty lips, she wasn't as tall as Gen was, but she wasn't short either. Charli looked like a model whereas Genevieve looked more like a little girl who was too tall for her age. She was even a little jealous of Charli and the way everyone turned when she walked by. She shook off the thought and kept walking. Genevieve's black Converse splashed in the puddles of the cracked pavement, she shivered from the rain running down her face and neck and pulled her leather jacket closer. She wasn't really dressed for the rain, she was wearing blue skinny jeans, a Fall Out Boy t-shirt from Hot Topic, her black leather biker jacket and her black Converse.
Genevieve got to the café, a quaint little place but still quite popular, it had big windows, grey brick walls with paintings of the city lining them, tables were placed in rows along the walls and in the center, with big maroon fake leather archmairs around them. Against the far wall was the barista's counter with glass covered display shelves showing pastries and snacks, there was also a door behind the counter leading to the kitchen and stock room. It was four o'clock and there were only a few tables full, which was odd considering this was usually rush hour.
Genevieve ducked under the counter, took her jacket off and put on her white apron with the café's logo on the front "Hey Gen!" called her friend and colleague, Viktoria Kingston, she went over to her friend, who was just a little shorter than Jen herself, she had auburn hair pulled into a messy bun and dark sunken eyes. Gen suspected she hadn't been sleeping lately "Hey Vikki, has it been busy?" She asked "Not really, pretty quiet actually. Could you take care of that table for me? I know they're in my section but I've got to take the order of those two tables and your section is practically empty. Please?" Viktoria asked pointing to a table of four people, two guys and two girls. One guy had messy earthy brown hair and a large muscular build, the other had curly blond hair and light features, the two boys looked like the type that Gen would like to draw as warriors in her sketchbook but would be too shy to talk to. The two girls were sat opposite their male counterparts, one of them had long, flowing blonde hair and a slender build, she looked a little like Charli. The other had wild, curly red hair pulled into a long braid and sharp features, she reminded Genevieve of a fox. They were both gorgeous too. Being bisexual, Gen had trouble talking to anyone slightly attractive without blushing or stumbling over her words. Gen walked toward the table and the blond guy looked up at her and smiled, he was gorgeous when he smiled. She felt oddly nervous, like a deer in the headlights "Get a grip, Gen! He's just a customer" she thought. She smiled back "Hi, what can I get you?" She asked them. The red head girl looked up at her and smiled revealing a row of perfect teeth. "Can we get two lattes and two black coffees, please?" She asked. "Hold on a second, what if I want something else?" The dark haired boy said "Well do you want something else?" Replied fox girl "No, but you didn't know that" he retorted. The other girl looked at him and rolled her eyes "Honestly Jayden, you always do this" she said "Do what?" The boy, Jayden, asked looking almost offended. "Act like a rebellious little kid whenever someone does something for you" she answered "I do not!" He answered looking surprised. The blond boy looked at her and smiled apologetically "Sorry. Two lattes and two black coffees, thanks" he said smiling. She walked away, smiling to herself with Jayden and the blonde girl still arguing. Jen slipped behind the counter and started to make the coffees. Viktoria looked at her, grinned and hip bumped her while making the lattes."I saw you checking out the blond guy. I always knew you had a thing for blonds" Vikki said, a little louder than Gen would have liked. Genevieve glanced up at the table and saw the dark haired guy looking at her with a lazy smile What if he heard her? He's too far away right? He couldn't have heard. I hope. she thought to herself "Will you lower your damn voice please?" She said almost laughing "Excuse me, ma'am" Vikki answered with a grin. "Dont look now but he's practically staring at you, Gen" Viktoria said sheepishly "Probably because he's wondering why the hell I'm taking so long" she retorted with a bit of sass. Gen grabbed the tray with two of the coffees, turned towards the counter to grab the other two, as she turned around she bumped into the blonde girl from the table and dropped the coffee all over the girl and herself. "Holy shit, I'm so sorry, I'm such a klutz" Gen said, apologizing to the girl. "Don't worry, it's my fault. I bumped into you, I should be apologizing. Genevieve, sweet name. the blonde replied said. Gen furrowed her brow and gave the girl a puzzled look, wondering how she knew her name. The girl noticed her puzzled expression and pointed to her name tag. "Oh right, sorry" Jen replied as she felt her face heat up slightly. "I'm sorry about your shirt" "Ah, no worries, its just a little inconvenient" the slender girl replied "Where's the toilet?" Gen pointed to the restroom door just next to the cafe's counter. "Just through there" she said. The other girl thanked her and dashed off to the bathroom looking slightly embarrassed. Gen looked over at the girl's table and saw the dark haired boy, Jayden she remembered, looking a little amused as his friend walked into the bathroom. "Talliah you dumbass" He said. She did a double take, sure he hadn't moved his lips when he said that. She walked away thinking someone else must have said it or she just hadn't seen him moving his lips. This isn She grabbed her plain blue shirt from the back room and as she ducked under the counter, the red-headed girl walked over to her and took the shirt from her hands "I'll take it to her" she said walking into the bathroom. Jen raised her eyebrows at the girl Oookayy then Jen thought. She got new coffees for the table and brought them over to the two boys still sat there. On the table, were sat weapons, that she somehow hadn't noticed before. There was a long wooden bow, engraved with vines and the initals T.G, next to it was a double sided battle axe with a wooden handle and three scratches engraved in it along with the initials J.W, by one of armchairs was a long blade longer than a knife but shorter than a sword, with a double sided blade, it had a black leather handle and engraved were the initials A.F, next to it was a long sword, leather handled and the initials C.G carved into it. "Wow, uh, nice weapons but you can't have these in here" Jen said feeling a little freaked. Had Talliah planned on killing her in the bathroom or something? "Wait, you can see them?" Asked the dark haired boy "Uh, yeah. It's a little hard not... to" She answered trailing off, as she looked around the room and saw no one who looked the slightest bit freaked at the weapons sat on the table in the middle of the room "Okay, well here's your coffee" Jen continued starting to feel scared and wondering if she was seeing and hearing things again. It had happened a lot recently but started when she was a kid and her parents were still together, she would hear and see things no one else could, until her parents went to get her checked out with a psychologist, who told her she was schizophrenic. She had taken pills for it and they worked, well until now apparently. Feeling a panic attack rising in het chest, she went back to the counter, took off her apron and put on her jacket and left the café almost running. When she got outside, she sprinted across the square pushing people out the way, she ran without knowing where she was going, running was her escape. That, gymnastics and drawing, her mom had tried to disuade her from gym or running but she couldn't and didn't want to stop, it was her way of blowing off steam. She finally stopped twenty-five minutes later in an alley and collapsed against the red brick wall in exertion, breathing heavily with now aching lungs. A shadow of a man appeared at the entrance of the alley "You are fast, aren't you? I've caught up to you though" it was the dark haired boy from the café, he was now holding the axe "I'm Jayden Whitescar. Let's talk" he said walking toward her. She turned to run the other way but saw it was a dead end, she looked at the wall, then turned toward the boy. She was trapped and boy, was she scared.
