The fog was thick on the sea. The Cruciatous was not daunted though. They were sailing for Port Royal, Jamaica with the Wren family. They were traveling along an altered route after they had received word of pirate activity. On board the young family was waiting with bated breath to see the beautiful island. Their youngest, a girl, was instead enthralled with the sea itself. She seemed entranced by the waves, the sky, the fog, all of it.

"Sabine," the mother of the family said, "please stay away from the rails."

"But, momma," Sabine protested, "the sea looks beautiful."

"The sea," said a young sailor in blues, "is more treacherous than you realize, young miss Wren. Pirates stalk these waters, waiting for any unfortunate ships to get lost, to strike it down, loot it and take the women and---"

"That's enough," said the captain, "Mister Antilles. Back to the crow's nest."

Mister Antilles went up to the crow's nest, As soon as he was up there, he saw some debris across the waters on the starboard side. Planks of wood, masts, rope, sails.

"Wreckage!" he shouted.

The entire crew was on the starboard railing, looking into the waters. The air reeked of lit gunpowder. Sabine was looking at the wreckage from the helm. She saw what looked like a section of a deck. On top was a boy. About the same age as her, maybe a couple of years younger.

"Look over there!" she shouted, pointing to the makeshift raft like object.

Instantly there were men in the water. They pulled him up and sat him next to Sabine. She noticed what looked like a piece of eight. (Just throwing this out there, no not the Cursed Gold of Cortez) She quickly pulled it off of him and stowed it in a small satchel she had with her. The boy began to stir. After coughing up some sea water, he opened his eyes. They were a pure blue. He looked at Sabine and faintly smiled.

"Hello." he said, "I'm Ezra. Ezra Bridger. Who are you?"

"Sabine," she replied, "Sabine Wren."

He closed his eyes and settled into a slumber. Sabine looked into the waters and saw a rather oddly colorful ship fade into the fog.

That was a weird looking ship. She thought

The crew then took Ezra into the ship, where he slept for a few more hours. When he woke up, he noticed that he was in a small room. He walked out and went to the top deck. There he saw who had saved him. Along with another girl standing with some well dressed people, and another boy who was outside of the group. The girl was about his age, and the boy, maybe a few years older than him. He walked to thank the girl who saved him, but was stopped by a guard.

"You cannot interfere with this meeting of the Swans and Wrens." the guard said.

He stood by the boy who was clearly not comfortable with being outside of the loop.

"I'm Ezra," Ezra said to him.

"I'm Will," said the boy, "William Turner."

From that day, the two formed a swift friendship, while Ezra grew a minor attachment to Sabine.

Surprised? Part 2 technically begins the story.
