There’s always been something ‘off’ about the girl in the back with those purple eyes and black hair. I think they’re color contacts, but I can’t be too sure. She’d never tell me. The strange thing was in the pictures of her when she was younger; she had this beautiful light brown hair and brown eyes. It was the most beautiful thing ever, but I wouldn’t ever trade it for my green eyes and red hair.

Yes, I am Jaylee Hannah, Scout Blake’s best friend. She has told me what she remembers about the tragedy when she was seven multiple times. It was around 12am when a plane fell out of the sky and went through her house, her bedroom to be specific. Her house went up in flames, killing her parents who were looking around for her.

Scout says she was at her grandmother’s and her grandmother goes along with it, but my parents say that it wasn’t possible. Scout’s grandmother was on the other side of the country, on a vacation with two friends. So that means Scout was at her house, definitely in her room, sleeping when the plane crashed. And how did she survive the plane going right through her?

Scout’s POV

Yes, I was hit by a plane when I was seven. The strange part was the plane crashed at exactly 11:59 pm. But yes, I did survive. Yes, there’s no possible way. That’s why I said I was at my grandmother’s house. So nobody would act suspicious. And I think she was on vacation at the time, but we’ll do what we can. But that’s not what matters right now, considering nobody here really cares about it. It did happen exactly ten years ago today, June 22nd. My birthday.

Anyway, my friends and I are at my school’s Graduation Dance thing. Why’d they have it the day before graduation, I don’t know. It was one last thing we’d do as a grade before graduating. It would probably be the last time I’d see any of these people, except Jaylee, ever again. Whatever… We were all having a great time dancing when my head started hurting. Luckily, I had some aspirin in my bag.

“Jay, I’ll be right back. Just gotta go get some aspirin,” I said and she nodded.

Once I swallowed the pills, I checked my phone to see how much time we had until we could go to Jaylee’s after party. Amazingly enough, this was going to be the last song. It was eleven o’clock now, and that’s when it was to end.

“Alright Hudson High, this is gonna be the last song of the night,” the emcee said; everyone awed or booed. “But then you can all go to your after parties!” The grade cheered.

It turned out to be ‘Last Friday Night’ by Katy Perry. It’s catchy and new, but it’s waaaaaaaay overplayed. So after party was soooo much better than the actual thing. I eventually checked the time and saw it was 11:59. Great. The exact ten-year anniversary of the day that changed my life.

My head started hurting again, and I knew I couldn’t take anymore aspirin. For some strange reason, I was alone in Jaylee’s living room. Everyone else was outside.

There was this accelerating car sound coming from out front, but I really didn’t care. Then I saw the headlights bursting through the window; I was paralyzed in fear. The windows broke and…

Jaylee’s POV

CRASH!

I ran into my house, only to see a car in my living room. There was no driver. How could this be? A car without a driver, crashed through my living room? Where’s Scout?

“SCOUT! WHERE ARE YOU?” I screamed. “SCOUT!”

The car went up in flames, as did my house. My mom’s never gonna let me have a party again…

The first thought in my head was call 911. NOW.

Within minutes, fire trucks and cop cars were at my house, putting out the fire. “Miss?” the policeman said as he came up to me. “Miss, can I ask you a few questions?” I nodded. “Where were you when the fire happened?”

“I’m Jaylee Hannah,” I replied and shook his hand. “I was looking for my friend, Scout Blake, and then a car smashed through the window—”

“A car? There was no car at the scene, Miss Hannah.”

“Huh? That’s what caused the fire, though. It came through the window and burst into flames…” He just stared at me like I was crazy. I thought about telling him about the cameras we had hidden, keeping surveillance on our house, but decided against it. Is that illegal? I hope not…

The next morning, I had walked over to where we kept the surveillance DVDs. I pulled out the one I needed and watched it on the laptop that I had in my backyard for the party. To my surprise, an invisible car went into my house. You might be thinking that I’m crazy, but it was as if a car had gone through, but it just wasn’t there. What really happened last night? Was I drunk? Or worse, was I right?
