I sat alone in the cold, dark room. The AC had been out for weeks, but the electricity just went out today. I didn't mind the cold because of all the fuzzy blankets I had, but the dark hallways waiting outside my door creeped me out. I sighed as I got out of bed, grabbing my barely working flashlight of the bedside table. I slowly made my way to the living room, slightly blinded by my fiery red hair, and opened my laptop I was borrowing from Makenna to pay the bills. Then I realized I didn't have the "adequate funds to keep myself alive" another two weeks. I decided that food came first and searched the kitchen for even the smallest crumb. Nothing. I mentally slapped myself for forgetting and made my way to the store in the middle of our cozy little town. It was a harsh winter, and the cold air nipped at my skin, easily passing through my green tank top and worn blue jeans. I looked around and saw everyone walking around in their cute puffy jackets, staying close to their friends, family and lovers for warmth. I hope someday I can be like them. I turned to enter the market only to find it was closed, great. My stomach rumbled as I turned to head back when I saw a small coffee shop called "cozy cottage" a few stores down. "A hot chocolate would be nice" I mumbled to myself. I walked in and was overwhelmed with the amazing smell. The shop was so warm and there were hardly any customers luckily. I walked up to the front counter and was greeted by a boy with light blue hair and a Star Wars shirt on and some pretty geeky glasses. "Hello and welcome to the Cozy Cabin! My name is Connor. May I take your order?" He's pretty cute.
"Uh yeah, I'll take a hot coco with extra whipped cream and a biscuit." I said tiredly. "Coming right up. Please wait at the table for your order." I began to walk off when I realised I hadn't paid yet. I ran back up an practically yelled "how much do I owe you??" He then realised his mistake and apologised profusely. "It's just 5 dollars. We have a discount going on for Halloween." I paid and sat down. Today was gonna be a long day. A minuet later, a brunette girl with an undercut and freckles came over with my food. As she neared the table, I noticed her high heels. Then I realized how many tables there were. Oh no. "Here's your orde-" she fell right on top of me, spilling the drink all over me. "Oh I'm so sorry!" Connor come running over with napkins as soon as he saw. "I'm so sorry miss! Please come with me to the back so you can wash up." Not wanting to be sticky all day, I followed. He took me to a small room behind the counter that looked like a shower honestly. "Here... uh... you can take off your shirt in here and put this one on." He handed me another Star Wars shirt that was probably his and walked out of the room "you can go sit down when your done and we will get your order ready." Before I could respond he left. I was feeling kind of off today but the smell of his shirt was quite comforting. I finished up and walked back to my table to see my coco and biscuit on the table with a 5 dollar bill attached. I went to return it but was quickly flushed out of the store by a huge muscular man shouting "closing time!" Everything after that was a blur.
