The week flew by and Saturday came fast. I'm now 16 years old and proud of it. Renshi had given me my present in the morning along with mom's and dad's. My parents had to work and Renshi was going to be staying with a friend. I waited for Toma to come over so I could open the presents along with his. It was 5 p.m. when he finally arrived. I opened the door only to be shocked at who was with Toma. Karoshi. Somehow, Karoshi was dragged here by Toma and is at my door on my birthday. If I'm dreaming, no one better wake me.

Toma:Happy birthday Aijou! Brought you your gift. I asked Karoshi to come along.

Karoshi:I was actually walking home from spending some time in the park when I ran into Toma. He told me he was coming to your house since it's your birthday so I decided to join. Sorry I don't have a gift.

Me:Don't worry about it. It's no big deal. Come in.

I closed the door when they were in. If I was a girl I'd be squeling a high note. Karoshi was in my house! We sat in the living room and Toma put his gift next to the others on the table. I got up and was about to go make some tea when Toma stopped me.

Toma:It's your birthday so I'll get the drinks. You sit.

I looked at him bewildered and sat back down. While Toma was in the kitchen, me and Karoshi sat in silence. I had to say something to break it. It was too much.

Me:So you were at the park? What were you doing?

Karoshi:Well I like to just sit and think to myself. The park is peaceful so I do all my thinking in the park.

Me:What do you usually think about?

Karoshi:Anything that comes to mind. Of course there was something I've been thinking about since I moved here.

Me:What? If you don't mind me asking.

Karoshi:Well there's the new school, students, teachers, neighborhood, and also...

Karoshi paused and looked at me. My heart was beating so loudly I thought he could hear it. Before he could finish his sentence, Toma came out with 3 cups of tea. I dropped my head. What bad timing Toma.

Toma:Ok everyone take a cup and let's start opening presents.

They both watched as I opened up my gifts. My mom got me a shirt and pair of pants which I thought looked cool. My dad got me a book that I had my eye on. He knows when I like something. Both Renshi and Toma got me video games for my game console. I have people that know me really well. The rest of the night, we all played the new games. Toma had to leave early due to a grade he's trying to bring up. That left me alone with Karoshi. I don't mind it, however I don't know if I can keep my cool around him for long. We kept playing until midnight. Our hands were hurting and we needed a break. Me and Karoshi sat on the couch, drinking our tea when he finally spoke.

Karoshi:So do all your birthdays end up like this?

Me:Well usually Toma would still be here but he had work to do.

I kept drinking trying not to let Karoshi see any sign of my wanting him. I then remembered what he was saying earlier.

Me:You never finished your sentence about what you think about in the park.

Karoshi:Oh right. Well like I said whatever comes to mind. But ever since I got here there's only been one thing on my mind.

I watched as he grabbed my drink and set it down along with his. He grabbed my chin and leaned in closer to my face. I could feel myself blushing with intensity. My heart pounded as we were only inches away from each other. Finally, Karoshi broke the silence and finished his sentence.

Karoshi:The thing I can't stop thinking about is you.

Bam! My face felt like it was hit with a hot towel. I had never blushed so much in my life. After he said that he leaned in even closer and kissed me. Kissed me! I could feel the heat from his breath. His tongue forced it's way into my mouth and was tasting every bit of it. After a few minutes of feeling like I was under water, he broke the kiss. I was still trying to process what had just happened to me when Karoshi spoke again.

Karoshi:Toma told me about your feelings for me.

I flinched. Toma you traitor. I'm so getting back at you. Karoshi continued to speak.

Karoshi:I have feelings for you too. I did since I first saw you. I just didn't know if you had felt the same so I was going to ask Toma. That's when I accidentally ran into him. He told me and devised a plan. He had decided that I would walk with him here and stay with you while he was gone, that way I could confess to you so here it is. I love you Aijou.

I looked at him. The expression on his face told me he meant it. This was happening! It really was. I have to tell him.

Me:I-I love you t-too.

The words studdered out of my mouth. I saw him smile and he kissed me again. I could feel myself screaming for joy inside. Surely this is what I have longed for.
