I couldn't breathe. The freezing cold, December water pierced my skin like a thousand needles. My dad held my hand saying it would be alright. I knew it wouldn't be from the look in his eyes. My mum was already unconscious and stopped breathing. I was too scared to cry. The water was flooding the car too fast. "Ava..." I looked up at my dad, his lips purple from the cold,"I love you." His grip loosened. The last thing I remember is seeing the flashing blue and red lights of the ambulances and police cruisers.
