This is Mike Camino, folks, bringing you some Eagle playoff football here tonight. These Eagles, who went undefeated in the regular season, and their passionate fans have their eyes set on the Texas football high school state championship. They need four more wins to make it to state, and they hope to take the first step to their goal, though some would call it destiny, this Friday night.
We watch from the booth as this Eagle offense takes the field lead by star junior quarterback, James Irving. Irving is a physical freak of nature, a six foot-four quarterback with room to grow with blinding quickness and great agility to go with a canon for an arm that is incredibly accurate. He puts his brilliant skillset to use breaking the state records for passing yards, completion percentage, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback this season. To put it simply, folks, this kid is the greatest high school quarterback we will ever see.
I'm telling y'all on the radio, if James Irving, the next Tom Brady, stays healthy, there is no way this team is not going to be celebrating a state title in four weeks.
This game is underway, folks, and the Eagles got a bad return after a bad return and will be forced to start with the ball at their nine yard line.
Irving is back in the shotgun waiting for the snap. The center snaps it, and Irving is going through his progressions. The pressure is breaking down around him, and he slips out of a surefire sack. He stops, sets his feet, and fires a gorgeous pass down field which is in the hands of the Eagles speedy receiver, Billy Richards Jr. It's a ninety-one-yard touchdown pass from James Irving. Wow, James Irving must must've thrown that ball at least eighty yards,
The Tigers are now returning the kickoff, and they get a nice return and will start with the ball at midfield. The first play from scrimmage is a nice eight-yard run right up the middle from the Tiger's running back.
Tigers are set at the line, and the quarterback, Blake Kap, hits his receiver for a twelve yard pick-up on a slant route and a first down.
Tigers decide to go no-huddle on this next play. Kap, under center, drops back. He's got a man. It's a thirty-yard touchdown pass from Blake Kap and the Chagrin Tigers. This Kap kid is no James Irving, but he does have a hell of an arm.
I'll tell you what folks, Blake Kap is staring down James Irving right now as if he's saying I can do anything you can do, Before the game, Kap was upset about how much media attention James Irving got compared to the rest of the league, and it seems as if he is on a mission to change that here tonight.
Eagles await the kickoff. Oh and it is fumbled by the Eagles, but recovered by them at their two-yard line. Lucky, lucky break for their special teams
James Irving trots out into the huddle ready to drive this Eagle offense down the field. He takes the snap and drops back. He rolls out to the left. He takes off, and breaks a tackle with a filthy stiff arm, spins out of another one, and blows past another guy before being taken down at the Eagles forty. That was low, vicious hit by the Tigers' linebacker on Irving. He was hit in the left knee, and he is still down, grabbing his knee.
Coach Arin and the medical staff have come out to check on their star quarterback. Coach Arin and the staff offer him a hand up, and he is trying to walk it off. It appears Irving is going to stay is the game despite limping heavily.
Irving is working from the shotgun. He takes the snap, and he fires a completion to Riggins Jr over the middle. Oh and a late hit from the Tigers' linebacker on James Irving right at that same knee he injured on the previous play. A flag is thrown, but Irving is in some serious pain right now. He is writhing in pain and grabbing his knee. Coach Arin and the medical staff are signaling for the cart.
James Irving is helped up by teammates onto the cart, and he is laying down with a towel over his head and is carted off the field.
Well Eagle fans, I know better than anybody the that the game isn't over till it's over, but with that injury to quarterback James Irving, the Eagles' once promising season where a state championship seemed given, seems as if it is going to end in the first round of these playoffs.
