Hit and Run and Hiding

The light flickered from the top of the bar reflecting random bursts of light from a glass cup I was cleaning to my eye making me flinch. The dim room was somewhat empty with a strong smell of alcohol in that air tickled my nose, ironic for a bartender. I should be used to the smell but I'm weak to alcohol and I'm more of a tea person... yah know? "Oi Hatter! Stop dozing off, closing time is close anyway!" My boss yelled from the opposite side of the room cleaning the tables. "Ah... sorry..." I responded placing the cup away and rubbing my eyes.

I couldn't help but yawn. I was so tired.

"Hatter if you still got energy, pass two drinks this way will ya?" I familiar voice said as I glanced over to see a cheeky grin on a workmate as he tilted his head to say "the regular please~". Sighing, I couldn't help but smirk and prepare two pints of beer. "Order up! HARE! TIME!" Without hesitation, a click was heard followed by the response "3.07seconds! RECORD!!!" 

Yes!

"Don't you got work to do Hare?" I asked leaning on the counter. His hands rose to present the empty bar, "touché."

The night was silent, no more people were coming in for the night making me relieved, even the boss headed our way defeated. "Okay boys, looks like we can call it a night, especially for you Hat" he said smiling as he signaled for two shots of Vodka. Wanting to retaliate Hare interrupted, "girl still got your tongue? Man Hat! You hear what she has gotten herself into lately?!"

I stopped and remained quiet as I got the boss his vodka. It has been a couple of days since I met this girl, but it's true, she has gotten to me.

It all started at a special tea party of mine. It was my birthday.

The clock chimed 3 pm as a gentle warm ray of light shined on my face and cheers were heard from the entire garden, accompanied by the sweet aroma of sweets and elegant herbs dancing along the calm breezes. My top hat with a stylish design of feathers and buttons almost flew off my head until I barely caught it with my new slippery gloves, the wind continued the blow as my grey coat swayed with it protecting my suit with an expressive stripped and patchy undershirt and bowtie.

Everything was perfect.

"WHERE IS THE CAKE?!" Hare shouted from afar as he ran towards me, "Just wait for the rabbit..." the mouse panted as he chased him close behind. "Is he still not here?' I asked politely, it didn't bother me anyway. The Hare's hunger for sweets grew until I volunteered to look for the rabbit even though people told me not to, I want to help as well, I can't help being a gentleman... plus I wanted an excuse to walk in the maze of the Queen's castle.

Time passes before I faced the facts... I was lost.

...BAM!

I fell into the hedges, tearing my clothes and my... HAT! OH NO, NOT THE HAT!! The feathers dented a bit and thread were tugged upon. Whoever did this would pay because this is one of my favourite hats that- "ouch..." a soft voice said in the distance as all my anger slowly subsided, not really. I fixed myself up before looking at the guilty victim that ruined my day to see it was a young lady with golden hair tied with a blue ribbon with a matching blue dress and white apron.

'Are..Ar.. um... you okay?" I said with my hand out to help her up, she rejected the offer and got up herself and swept herself off as she smiled. It took her time to notice what had happened, almost came off rude, getting on my nerves. I was about to raise my voice until her eyes widened. "IM SO SORRY! ARE YOU OKAY?! I WAS IN A RUSH TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE... or something... an animal to be exact... AND THEN..." her words became cluttered as she repetitively bowed, I thought she was rude but this was too much to handle. "It's okay... you can calm do-" "ARE YOU SURE?!?!" She responded as she got close.
