Harry's POV

All I can think about are Miley's scars.

How could she even do that?

She's so beautiful.

She's smart, I've seen her in class.

She has a lot of friends.

What more could she want?

When Shay and Miley get out of the car to go back to their apartment, I want to go with them.

But I don't.

I don't even say bye.

"Shay is hot, don't you think?" Mike asks me as he turns onto a road.

"She's okay," I truthfully reply.

"Okay? She's a fucking goddess."

"Dude, I never called her ugly. She's just not my type."

"What exactly is your type, Styles?"

"I like intelligence. A cute smile. Pretty eyes."

Mike laughs. "Well I like boobs, ass and long legs."

And I don't blame him.

I used to be that way too until I met Cam. She taught me what girls like and how they basically work.

They aren't toys.

They aren't people you can just fuck around with, even though I used to do just that.

I force Cam out of my mind and replace her with Miley.

Miley is... She's just so.. Miley.

She barely knows me, yet she is always trying to help me.

..

"So, dude, do you like her or something?" Mike questions once we get into his tiny apartment.

"Miley or Shay?"

"Miley."

I sit down on his couch and stare at the wall.

"I don't know. I honestly don't know."

Which is true. She is so not normal. She's like a mystery, and I want to figure her out.

But do I like her?

I don't know.

"If you do, tell me. 'Cause if not, she'll be next on my list to get if Shay and I don't work out."

"And you say I'm the man whore?" I scoff.

"C'mon, man. I know you still got some of that playboy shit in you."

"No. I've changed. And you know it."

Mike is really pissing me off. How dare he bring up the past? Past is past.

I know how fucked up I was, I don't need a reminder.

"I'm just kidding," He laughs.

I roll my eyes.

"I'm leaving," I announce as I stand up.

I don't even hear what Mike says because I'm already halfway down the stairs.

Elevators are for losers.

-

Thank god I brought my car there. Mike would have probably never taken me home.

"Harry, how was your day?" Mum asks me when I walk into the house.

"Good, I guess."

Should I tell her that I've been looking at apartments?

"Mum?"

"Yes, dear?"

"I've been searching for an apartment. I think I found one not far from here or campus. I can show you if you'd like."

"You what?"

"I can live on my own, Mum. I'm twenty-one for crying out loud. You know I'm not the same person I was a year ago. I've sobered up, I've found a great job and my grades are higher than ever. Why don't you trust me?"

"You're right." She gathers my hands in hers. "You're completely right. Okay. I trust you. And I love you. I don't want you messing up again, my love."

I bring her into my arms and she hugs me tightly. No matter how annoying she is, she's still my Mum and she only wants what is best for me.

..

"Um, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Got it. Okay. Bye," I hang up the phone on some woman named Stacy.

I have to meet her tomorrow at fucking nine in the morning at the apartment I want.

Why does it have to be at nine? That's too damn early.

I check my phone and there's a text from a new number.

It reads, "Hi, it's Miley. Call me when you get the chance."

I hesitate before dialing her phone.

"Harry?" She answers.

"Yeah, what do you need?"

"About earlier today.. Please don't tell anyone. Shay knows, but no one else does. Please."

"I would never tell anyone that," I say and mean it.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

There's a moment of silence that passes while I debate whether I should hang up or wait for her to say something else.

"Do you want to hang out or something?" I ask before I can stop myself.

"Um, sure. Right now?"

"Sounds good. On my way."

I hang up before Miley can decline.

I change my shirt and grab my keys before heading out to pick her up.
