Three weeks later, and believe it or not, this is what I deem my average life. As it turned out, seven demons called this rickety shack a home. It also seems that they are incredibly happy to see me, despite my numerous attempts to banish them for the first week or so.
== FLASHBACK ==
'Demons. DEMONS, of ALL things to encounter. I've attempted numerous banishing attempts and am about to try another. Wish me luck...' I put down the diary. Lighting a candle, I proceeded to chant a ritual I had lazily Googled on my iPhone. I had gotten my Wi-Fi, power and water installed weeks before, because there was not a chance that I was going to move into a brand-new location only to act as if I were camping, but with reliable shelter. I began chanting louder, attracting the attention of three or four of the demons before eventually all of them had floated over to see what the commotion was. They stared blankly as I desperately attempted to rid my new abode of the spirits, and yet they were unaffected and, frankly, most likely thought that I looked like an imbecile. After the first week, I began to accept them and at the third week they were like roommates, each with a distinct personality. The coolest thing of all is that they like to help me and think I'm really nice. It's odd. "How many creepypastas have I read that contain this similar situation, but the demons hate the protagonist?" I frequently found myself asking myself out loud. Some days, I would feel longing for company, but swiftly realize that the demons are always nearby to talk.==END FLASHBACK==
I churned in my cot and woke up to a brisk breeze quickly blowing in my face. A bright yellow tint to the atmosphere assaulted my sight as I absentmindedly sat up and squinted around the room. "Pride? Good morning." I recognized that beautiful yellow colour anywhere. Pride was present, and a small flash in front of me rid my vision of the yellow tint, producing a short, heavy-built man with large thighs and thick legs. He wore dark brown dress pants, a yellow and dark yellow striped sweater vest with a white button-up underneath, and a black bowler's hat atop his scruffy, bright blonde hair. His cheeks reddened slightly.
"Sorry, Lee. I needed somethin', but I tried not to wake ya." I stood and kicked the blankets off of me, revealing my typical pajamas: a dark blue shirt and boxers. I hadn't had much time to clothes shop and, for that matter, I was fine wearing just that through the hot summer nights,
"Well, it's okay. I needed to get up an hour from now anyway. I'll make breakfast?" The demons didn't need to eat, but they enjoyed my cooking and decided to eat every morning from now on. Pride smiled a huge, dopey grin.
"Nice! I'm countin' on some Grade-A French toast, so don't lemme down, eh?" He stepped back and gave me space to step away from the temporary bed and leave the little room. I awkwardly gestured for him to go first, and he slid past me. I watched him evaporate as he walked away and the air in the hall was tinted yellow, with a trail of sparkles signifying the path Pride had been taking to get downstairs.
Following suit, I followed the fading yellow tint to the kitchen. I stepped in and jumped when my bare feet touched the cold, diner-style checkerboard tile that was the kitchen floor. I rubbed my eyes and when they opened, the room burst into a ball of light, forcing me to close them again. "Gah!" I retreated involuntarily and, due to reflex, covered my face. "If it ain't Lee!" It was Wrath. But I could tell there were more.
"Guys, he's not what ya'd call fully awake yet, so maybe don't overdo yer entrances, got it?" And yet again, Pride was always looking out for me, oddly. "Plus, all this light's gonna ruin my complexion!" Aaand there it was.
A couple of light bursts and half an hour later, Lust was violating my personal space, Sloth was sleepily sipping some coffee and sitting across from me at the table, Gluttony was scarfing down his third plate of fried eggs, Pride was enjoying some French toast and Wrath and Greed were arguing over who got the last strip of bacon. Ah, our infamous mornings, the pride and joy of our little family. I whipped out my phone and nearly spit out my coffee.
"9:30?!" I exclaimed, shocked. "I've got five minutes to get to my new job!" At that, Greed looked over.
"New job? I wasn't told about this!" He slid over and whispered, "What's the pay?" I chuckled softly and stood up.
"I gotta go, you guys." I looked away for a moment, thinking. Pride had come with me to the job interview, giving me pointers on how to get the job and stay confident. Maybe he could come too? Although, I kind of wanted to catch up with Gluttony, especially since it was my job to add the specials to the menu and cook other menu items, and Gluttony could help me with decisions. I'd reward her with a sandwich at the end of the day, of course. I walked up to my room and called over my shoulder, "Hey Gluttony, wanna come to my new job? Free sandwiches!"TO BE CONTINUED
