After rushing pass his girl Friday, Souza walked around town aimlessly. He was walking down River Street when a car pulled up next to him causing Souza to reach for the .45 under his left arm.
"Whoa boy! Easy you wouldn't want to shoot a friend? Right?" said Detective Sargent Apana, long time family friend and mentor.
"Sorry, wasn't thinking straight." Souza sheepishly replied.
" Ok, What's up? You look like you saw one ghost." asked Apana.
Souza walked toward a bench near the river, waving his friend over. He, then explains the telegram to Apana.
"What should I do about her?" Souza asks Apana. "Well funny you should ask Johnny boy, I came looking for you to ask if you knew she was back?" Apana replied . " She's staying out at Kaneohe by the Marine Base. She's got a lotta company coming and going out .
" So she's got friends, last time I looked it wasn't a crime." Souza said with a little hostility in his voice.
" You're right it's not a crime. I'm just saying her friends have guns... She doesn't like you,if fact wise guy , didn't she shoot you?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm sure you getting to a point sooner or later... What gives? I'm sure you have better things to do than hold my hand. Worried about her finishing the job? Souza was mad now. "Hey kid if it was anyone else... screw it! I know you and her had a thing, hell you let go on the boat to San Francisco. So don't think I don't have anything else to do BUT wonder not worry bout you and her. Even Fry wants nothing to do with this. You're both family to her. Get it straight kid! You got problems, alot of them and you are going need my help. Heck the whole squads help. So wise up!" Apana stood up and stormed off to his car. Slammed the door and sped off towards the Police Station.
