Ignorance is bliss in the eyes of the beholder;
The world seems to shrink when you get older;
Set in your ways and the blood gets colder;
While the young roam the streets, it gets no bolder.
I was recommended to go into the service;
If we're being honest confrontation makes me nervous;
Not because I'm scared, the beast is impervious;
It just lurks inside waiting to surface.
Going day by day living in the dark;
Living like the other similar creatures in the dark;
Tell me are you afraid of the dark or what's inside the dark?
For me I know all too well what hides in the dark.
Inner demons skulking around, keeping watch;
Never give in and always stay up a notch.
You may think they won't keep tally but they're keeping score;
Just like all the proverbial bodies laid on the cutting floor.
