She sighed as they approached the city, the familiar landscape whizzing past the window in a green blur. Shielding her grey eyes from a stray beam on sunshine Victoria Ballantyne glanced to the horizon, the skyline of London now visible as the trees and fields slipped away, cozy suburbia surrounding them. She could hear her mother's cool disapproval but chose to ignore the words spoken out against the muggles. It was hardly their fault they lived in such conditions.

Yes, she was quite unique for a pureblood. Despite being brought up in such an elitist house hold she had never herself adopted the hatred of mudbloods...much to her father's dismay. He had made it clear that she was in a minority within the social circle they found themselves in, but she stood her ground and refused to join in on conversations concerning the subject. At the age of seventeen she had long learnt by now that adults are not always right.

It was a relief as they finally reached Paddington, her trunk being loaded onto a trolley by the driver, her parents leading the way to the platform. Victoria smiled softly to herself as she watched the other families making their way, some clearly their first year at Hogwarts, others with older siblings guiding younger children with all their things. The smile dropped however when she saw him. Smirking, blonde, moronic him. Draco Malfoy was leaning against his trunk, probably showing off to his idiot friends Crabbe and Goyle. Rolling her eyes she groaned outwardly, mother already making a beeline for Narcissa. Dragged along by her cuff she growled at the three boys, all of whom had stopped talking entirely as she approached. The parents were too busy talking to notice the small scene unfolding just before their eyes.

"Ah, Victoria...excited about another year with us? I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to have so fun." Draco's silky voice filled her ears, leaning over to her as he spoke, oozing prepubescent arrogance.

"Actually Malfoy I think I'd rather choke on a bludger than spend a year in your presence. Perhaps I'll try for the Quidditch team this time." she flashed a sweet smile as she motioned to have her bags taken onboard the train so she could settle down and avoid the mindless chatter of those boys. Her solace went undisturbed for about twenty minutes when Malfoy rapped on the door and invaded her booth.

"I really don't know why you're so cold. It's not like I've ever been mean to you." he said snidely, almost a hint of offense in his voice.

"You've never been mean to me? Are you forgetting what happened this summer?" Victoria yelled at him, a rush of colour spreading over her cheeks. Her mind filled with scenes of how he had teased and bullied her this year when she had been forced to stay with his family. It happened every year but this time it had been particularly terrible with Malfoy locking up all her things and pouring ice water over her bed, whilst she had been sleeping in it. She had thought that by now he may have grown up and moved on from the pranks he played when he was twelve, but apparently boys really will be boys. Crossing her arms over her chest she pursed her lips in irritation.

"Why are you here? Surely Pansy is looking for you." she said quietly, a dangerous edge to her voice as if to warn him not to push the wrong buttons.

"Perhaps I prefer surrounding myself with girls of substance rather than hairspray." He replied rather curtly, his eyes drifting over her body as he spoke. It made her feel sick to the bone.

"Please just go. I've seen enough of you for now...I'm sure you'll harass me further in the Common Room."

He blew out his cheeks, turning a little red himself before standing up, his house robes billowing about his toned body. "Fine, no need to be such a bitch about it though."With that he left her, some of her actual friends coming in to talk to her, to take her mind off that idiot boy for the rest of the journey.
