Trying out my first story, I originally wrote it for school, but made a few tweaks here and there and voila! A new short story. I'm pretty proud of my accomplishment :) Enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I come upon an enormous, old-fashioned, gloomy looking, torn up building with black vines crawling up the sides and shattered windows. I slowly stumble up to the door, which creaks open as the wind whistles past my ear, giving me goose bumps all over. I cautiously take a step in, and...
"AHHHHHHHH!" I hear a deafening scream as the doors shut behind me with a thundering bang, shaking everything around me.
I look around frantically, "Who's there!" My voice comes out faint, full of fear. I take another step forward, when my foot pierces through the ground. It dangles there, wondering anything could be under the floor. Just when I'm about to pull my leg out, I feel a hand clasp around it, panicking I try to yank it out fast, only to be swallowed by the ground whole.
Few seconds later, I fall to the floor on my hands and knees, when I feel wetness under my hands. Nervously, I lift them up to inspect them, when I'm met with a red liquid. The first thought that comes to mind is "Blood."
"Brian........................" I freeze as soon as I hear someone hissing my name. I slowly lift my head, and my blood runs cold. I see a glimpse of a 2 headed figure with claws on its hand, and it was walking straight towards me.
I don't know what to do, so I stand up and sprint away. Not knowing where I am headed, I just follow my legs, trying to get away from that big thing. I stop a while later, cold sweat running down my face, because my legs are starting to ache and I end up in a hallway looking place, which looks very ancient.
Deciding to walk a little in hopes of finding an exit soon, I hear a raspy voice call me, "Brian........................"
Gathering up a little courage, I don't stop and keep going straight. I pass a dark blue closet with skulls on it. It has a sign that says "Do not open." I question what's in there but don't stop to see and keep walking, right then a snake is flung at me out of the darkness followed by a dozen more surrounding me. My face becomes pale when I see the snakes' huge eyes staring at me. I stay as still as a rock, wondering what to do. So I look around frantically, only to find myself backed up to the closet.
I can only think of one thing and that is to go in there and hide from the snakes. I hold my breath and grasp the handles really tight. Tugging on it a little the door screeches and to my delight I don't see anything out of the ordinary in there. I go inside it and quickly shut the doors tight, not wanting snakes to get in.
Then I feel rumbling and a humming noise, like a machine has turned on. I push on the doors with all my might wanting to get out of here, but they don't even budge an inch. Right then I hear tiny laughing, which ignites my fear even more, and I dread whatever comes next.
After what felt like forever, the doors open and I am pushed out onto the floor. My happiness to be out of the closet doesn't last long when I see that the room the closet brought me to is a library.
The library is lightly dim with numerous amounts of books; there are some that are distorted books, flat books, large hollow books, and even circular ones, which are all surrounded by some ghostly aura. I stand up and walk towards a shelf consisting of English books, finding no danger in the library. As soon as I pull out "The Plague of Doves" the bookshelf makes soft clicking noises, which sound loud against the silence of the library. Automatically the shelf twists and turns and soon I find myself on the other side of the wall, in an extremely dark room. There I hold the book tight for a sense of security, but I feel the book being pulled out of my hands, and soon enough it is gone.
