Pant. Pant. Pant.
No, No.... I must escape away before that drug depleted me completely.
I rushed through a megalopolitan called Edo, with a horde of people chasing me. As my consciousness tried to eat me, my body has been weakened and my memories starts to get etiolated.
I can't.... I just, I don't want to do this anymore.
I clenched my teeth and keep carrying my numb feet all along. They have been wounded. I saw a horror of blood flowing through it.
"STOP!" one of the men yelled. I ran, realizing that my speed has come to a decline. I pulled out a smoke bomb from my pocket, as I looked at a tremendous amount of swordsman coming towards me.
This is the last one.
I threw that thing to the ground, and it explodes, forming a thick fog. I carried both of my wounded feet and chanted, hoped that I will remember.
Please don't let me forget... Don't let me...
I fell to the ground, collapsed under piles of garbage. As my consciousness starts to fade, I hoped and hoped that they won't find me again.

I woke up under a room with tatami flooring and on a top of a futon. I felt a slight pain on my feet, seeing that it was covered with some white elastic bandages.
As I come to my senses, I flinched as my head starts attacking with a tremendous pain, and I realized that my memories had disappeared.
What happened to me?
I stared at both of my bandaged limbs in despair.
What is this? Who am I?
I pushed my brain to think more, but results only in a huge pain attacking. In that pain, I saw a towering white wall that keeps me from sight of what's across. I tried to keep my mind stable, taming it so I wouldn't go nuts. Then, I felt a slight feeling that I've done it before countless of times.
More importantly... where is this?
I asked myself, forcing my brain to remember more, and realizing it was useless after all.
Then, I heard a heavy footsteps walking from the corridor. I saw a black haired man, moving towards me. I stared at him constantly, worrying he would bring harm.
He carried something. What's that? a tray?
He sat down beside my futon and gave me a tray with a cup of ocha and anpan, with a bright smile. "Hello, my name is Yamazaki Sagaru. I'm sorry I can't serve you any better food. There aren't much food in the headquarter" he said while smiling delightfully.
"Headquarter?" I asked him skeptically, while taking a cup of ocha from the tray.
"Oh, right. You are now in Shinshengumi headquarter, one of the largest police organization. I and Kondou-san found you when we were disposing some trashes. Do you remember?" he explained.
I stared at my cup of tea that shows blurry reflection of my own appearance. Should I tell him? Judging from the introduction, that seems that I didn't know this place and this person after all. Besides, he seems like he is a good person.
"You don't have to tell me, though. I know it must've been hard for you. But this is police headquarter you know? you can always ask us for help" he scratched his head and stood up.
He walked towards the sliding door and I saw a shadow of a man, in the mid of his twenties, talked to Yamazaki in a serious, worried tone.
"Is she alright?" that voice heard even clearer.
I stood up, limply, and walked towards the two men having conversation. I think I should leave right now, they seems to be a lot worried than expected.
"I'm alright. Thanks for your assistance" I grinned, butting in to their conversation.
"ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!" the brown haired man exclaimed in worry while shaking my shoulders with his hands.
Oi, I'm alright didn't I tell you so?
"Kondo-san, stop doing that, she will get scared!" Yamazaki butted in. "Miss, this is Kondou Isao - san, the commander of Shinsengumi" and "Kondou-san, this is.... eh what is your name?" he interrupted, realized he hasn't asked my name yet.
"I actually did not remember anything since I woke up just now" I explained, deciding to tell them the truth.
"Really?! That's not good! Luckily you are in a good hand. You know, Yamazaki! People can possibly harm her if we did not take her to our headquarter!" Kondou-san exclaimed in disbelief.
"Did you bump your head and lost some memories?" Yamazaki asked me curiously.
"I don't think that's the case. But I'm afraid I have to leave right now. I'm sorry for causing you trouble, but I think I'll figure it out myself" I replied.
"HEEEE! No way! You have no idea what kind of people exists in this era! Iyada. I won't let you. You're still wounded anyway. Where are you planning to go!" Kondou-san spoked with a serious, advised tone.
"That's true! you wouldn't go anywhere with that legs" Yamazaki smiled, pointing at my legs wrapped in white bandages.
"But..." I uttered.
They turned my back and pushed me back towards the room, while closing the sliding door.
I sighed. What a troublesome...
Those two men walked away from the room. I took the plastic wrapped anpan, munch it and leaned my back, facing the window and gazed upon the leaves falling.
This thing doesn't taste so bad.
