I'll kiss you anyway

CHAPTER ONE:

The wind was cold and the rain cut like ice. I ran as fast as I could, but I knew I wasn't going to stop Derick from performing the midnight curse. his transformation had already begun.

"Hey Erika! "

I jumped at the sound of the voice that *might I add very rudely* interrupted me from my book!

"Hey Calum." I said to the tan boy sitting down beside me. Calum was one of my best friends. we knew everything about each other.

"heard there is a new guy in school. wondering if mrs. popular knows anything?" he replied gently nudging me as he said my nickname. no matter how many times I tell ppl that im actually not that popular, no one actually believes me.

"no, I didn't know anything about that!!" I said surprised. Calum just shrugged and then he saw my book. "another horror story?" he sighed. "I thought you said you were giving those up and start being a part of the living?"

I bowed my head in embarrassment. if I had a choice, give me a good murder book over people ANY day!

just then, the bell rang to go to class. again, I jumped. I snapped my head at Calum. "don't even think about laughing at me!!" I said just as he covered his mouth with his hand.

***** first period *****

"Samantha Collinson?"

"HERE!"

"Kylie Mohler?"

"HERE!"

"Patrick Keyser?"

"HERE!"

"Erika Latimer?"

"HERE!" I said trying to hide the fact that I was late.

"nice of you to join us for class ms. Latimer."

shit, she noticed.

when Mrs. Lock finished roll call, she stood up once again amazing me that her fossilized remains could still move. "class, we have a new student here with us today. Luke, would you please stand?" she asked as the most beautiful boy I had ever laid eyes on stood up in the back. he had a blonde quiff, beautiful bright blue eyes, and a lip piercing that could very well be the death of me! he was so tall, maybe the tallest guy I have ever seen! but,I guess over all, he was so HOT!!

just looking at him I knew I wasn't going to have a chance with him. I was staring at his utter perfection so intensely, that I didn't hear Mrs. Lock say my name. "Ms. Latimer? I asked if you wouldn't mind showing Mr. Hemmings here our school?"

"huh? OH! yeah, no, I would love to!!" I nervously answered back. god he was so HOT!

Luke smiled at me and I had a rush of butterflies in my stomach.

**** after class ****

"DERICK!" I called after him. his face was pale but his eyes were the color of blood. how could this happen? the man I love is the man I must kill. it's as if the witches knew this moment would happen! Derick turned to look at me, but I knew the keeper was already coming forth.

"Hey beautiful!" a thick Australian accent whispered in my ear.

"AHH!!" I shrieked out in surprise. I glared at him. "DON'T. DO. THAT. EVER!" I panted trying to catch my breath.

Luke just laughed. "HAHAHA!! sorry, didn't mean to make you jump. watcha reading?" he asked. I held up my book showing him the covor.

"Nightmares" he read out loud. his blue eyes looked up at me "is it any good?"

I smiled big. but, before I could reply, Calum came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. he was also with our friend Michael.

"Hey Mrs. Popular! who's your new friend here?" Calum asked kissing my cheek like he always does. Michael just glared at Luke, but I didn't know why. "this is Luke, he's new here. Mrs. Lock asked if I could show him around." I explained. Luke just nodded in response. he was also glaring at Michael.

what was with these two? I turned my attention to Luke. "you ready for that tour?" I asked. he looked at me and his eyes light up. I don't think I've ever seen eyes so blue!
