Chapter 2:
Harry's POV
"Daddyyyy..." a tiny voice says. "Daddy, wake up!"
The owner of the voice then begins to poke my cheek repeatedly. I open my eyes to find the culprit is my daughter. I automatically smile.
"Good morning princess." I mumble with a grin.
"Morning Daddy!" She giggles.
"What are you doing up so early, Boo?" I ask her.
Boo is the nickname I gave to Brooke when she turned 1. It just kind of stuck.
"Uncle Liam was calling you, so I tried to wake you up. But you were too sleepy!" She giggles again.
"Ah, I see. Well I guess I'll have to call Uncle Liam then, huh?" I say.
"Can we watch a movie first, Daddy?"
"Of course, angel. What do you wanna watch?" I question.
"FROZEN!" she shouts.
I wince but smile up at her. "Take it easy on Daddy okay? He just woke up. I'll go put the movie in and we can stay under the covers and watch it, alright?"
"Okay!"
I put the movie in and we sing along to almost every song in the film.
"How about some breakfast, Boo?"
"Yes! Can we go to IHOP?" she asks excitedly.
"Sure babe, let's get ready and we can go."
---------------------------------------------
Brooke and I are currently leaving IHOP when my phone starts to ring.
The caller ID says it's Niall. I answer it and immediately hear his Irish accent flood through the phone.
"Hey Harry."
"Hey Nialler, what's up?"
"Us boys have a meeting at Modest! in a half hour. Think you can make it?"
"Yeah of course, but I have Boo with me."
"She is actually the reason for the meeting, so bring her along." he says nervously.
"Uh okay then. See you in a few."
I hang up, very confused. Why does Brooke have to be at this meeting? And why was Niall so nervous about it?
"Where are we going now Daddy?" my girl asks.
"We're gonna go visit your uncles." I smile at her.
She always gets so excited to see the boys. Probably because they spoil her so much. Not that I don't spoil her as well.
Brooke is 4 years old now. She is my whole world. I couldn't live without her. She looks so much like me, with curly hair and green eyes. The only difference is her hair is blonde. I couldn't have asked for a better daughter.
As I pull up to the huge building, I grab Boo and I give her a piggy-back ride up to the meeting room.
I enter to see the boys and our manager, Jennifer.
"Hey guys." I say.
Choruses of 'hey' and 'hi' were thrown out as I sat down with Boo in my lap.
I've always been protective of her ever since she was born, but for obvious reasons. I won't let anyone hurt her.
"Harry, we have to talk. You know the Where We Are Tour is coming up, and we know from past experience that you can't fully take care of Brooke and perform all of your responsibilities properly at the same time. So, I propose getting a babysitter. She would travel with us on tour and take care of Brooke when you have to be elsewhere. I already have applicants waiting outside for you to interview." Jennifer tells me.
"No! This is ridiculous! I can take care of my daughter myself. I don't need a babysitter for her." I defend.
"Yes you do, and you know it. There's no getting around this, Harry. It needs to be done." she explains.
"Fine. Bring in the first one." I grumble.
----------------------------------------------
"Has there been anyone that has sparked your interest, Harry?" Jennifer says.
"No." I mumble back.
"Jen, I don't think anyone that's come in has been anywhere near our standards. Nobody good enough for Boo." Louis says.
"I agree." Liam sighs.
"Well there's one more girl out there. Her name is Payton-" she starts. I scoff.
"Harry, please keep an open mind. Brooke needs this." Jen says. "As I was saying, her name is Payton, she's 20 years old, and she lives right here in London."
I fake a smile and reply, "Send her in then!"
----------------------------------------------
Payton's POV
This lovely lady, Jennifer, calls me into the room.
I'm very confused as I see Jennifer, 5 boys around my age, and a little girl sleeping in the curly-haired boy's lap.
"Um, I don't mean to be rude but, uh, I thought I was interviewing for my friend Madi's uncle.." I start.
"Oh right! Mr. Cowell couldn't be here today, so I'm filling in." Jennifer
smiles.
I smile back. She seems nice enough.
I look around the room and see 4 boys smiling and the curly-haired one glaring at me. Geez.
"Take a seat, Ms Parker." Jennifer tells me.
I sit and answer all of her questions.
"Harry, do you have any questions for Ms Parker?" She asks the grumpy one.
"Yes, actually. Ms Parker, Payton is it?" I nod. "Well, Payton, what makes you think you can take the best care of my daughter?" he says angrily.
My eyes widen in shock. I hesitantly start speaking. "Uh, I'm really good with kids because I have a little sister. And she seems like an amazing little girl." I say softly, smiling a bit as I look over at her.
The curly-haired one, Harry, relaxes a little as he smiles down at her, combing his fingers through her hair.
"Can you give us a minute Ms Parker?" Jennifer asks.
I nod and stalk out of the room, but stand right outside the door to listen.
"She's great." one boy says.
"I think we all can agree with Niall." another one throws out.
"What do you think, Haz?" a third boy asks.
Then curly speaks up and says "I don't know guys..I still hate the idea of someone else taking care of Boo. It scares the hell out of me."
"How about we have her come back in and see how Brooke reacts with her?" Jennifer suggests.
Curly sighs. "Okay."
