Knock, knock, knock. I go down the  stairs from my room, my mother's room is on the ride side at the bottom of the stairs. I walk down the hallway and pass a few rooms to the front door which the kitchen is on the left side and the living room is on the right side. I open the door to see my best friend Sam, he's the greatest but he is also a goof and show off, he has brown mid forehead length hair, grey eyes, he's 6 feet tall and has a six pack. He also has a pretty perfect smile. I have long straight bleach blonde hair, blue eyes, freckles, 5'10 and I'm very toned.
"Hi Sam", I say smiling like an idiot.
"Hey Princess Icy", he made up that nickname when we were kids and it stuck.
"Do you always have to call me that?"
"No but it's funny to see you blush", he chuckled a little saying.
"I could call you your nickname"
"True and fair but it's not as cute as my nickname for you, yours is just, is just, mean."
Of course, anything for you Prince booger-eater", I laughed.
"It was one time when we were three years old. Let it go", we both laughed.
See we have been best friends since we were born basically. Our mom's said we held hands as newborns. They even have a picture of us, typical mothers. Neither of us really has a father, Sam's father ran away and met a new girl who settled down with and made a family when Sam was just a year old, he just recently got in touch with Sam but he wants nothing to do with him. My father acted as Sam's father figure til I was 12 and Sam was 13. Mom and dad got into an argument so dad left to cool down and got into a terrible car accident. It's okay though because I know he's look down on us from heaven.
"Where's Crystabell, at work already?"
"Yeah, you know her, she's the early bird that always catches the worm", we both giggle.
Both of our mothers have very good stable jobs, they are both nurses, so yeah we never got away with playing sick as kids. It's the first day of summer so of course Sam came to greet me. Oh yeah and we aren't the teenagers to stay up all night and sleep all day, we actually like to enjoy the day. We do very good in school, like getting straight A's which Sam is going to be a Senior and I will be a junior.
"What would you like to do today, Ivy?" Sam says boredly.
"I was thinking about roller skating if you want to come along" I smile, I know he's going to go because we almost do everything together.
We live in a small little town in Texas but we travel to the bigger towns that are close so we can do stuff.
I threw on some shorts and a tank top and tennis shoes because here in Texas it gets really warm most days. Sam was already wearing his khaki shorts and his beach tank top with puma shoes. We got in Sam's mustang and then we were on our way to skate, he has a really nice car but I like my old pickup truck way more.
"I hear there is going to be a drive in theatre put up within the next couple weeks so we should check it out" Sam says, he loves to make conversation.
"Yeah we should definately check it out unless it's a scary movie, I can't stand those"
He chuckled then says, "yeah, I know,  you get real jumpy."
Ya know being best friends your whole lives, you already know everything about each other so sometimes it's hard to make conversation but Sam is amazing at it so we never really seem to run out of conversation.
"We are here, I'm excited, I love roller skating." I say excited, but I'm always pretty positive and happy so not a shocker.
We went in, got our skates, and started skating. We skate a lot so we have gotten pretty good. We actually dance together a lot when we skate because it's fun. They play all sorts of music so it gets pretty interesting. When we do fall on our butts, we laugh because everything we do together is to have fun, not to be perfect. Around 5 in the afternoon, we were exhausted and ready to go so we gave the skates to Billy Jo the employee and one of our friends, had a few words then left.
When we got back to my house, my mother was already there, she usually works double shifts but we all wanted to go out to eat since it's the first day of summer. So we went on out to a stake house and had steaks to celebrate another great year of school, yeah our mothers love to celebrate how good we do in school. Our bellies get a good meal every year just because we work hard. We always get great meals but we get treated for our good deeds, usually because it helps us want to make more good deeds, at least that's the way our mothers view it which is why they do it.
"So what did you two do all day?", Gracely(Sam's mother) asked smiling suspiciously.
"We just went skating ma, nothing to big", Sam smiled.
We were at the steak house for an hour which we had a good time then went home to rest up for the next day.
Editors note: this is my very first story and I know it doesn't have to much conversation yet, has a lot of imeragery and background but I will get better, just bare with me please, I will get better.
