Todd Blackensburg-
I just wasn't seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
Everyday I lived in a grey gloom. The sky was overcast. The trees were wilted. The soil was spoilt, flowers refused to grow.
So did my happiness.
Everyday, it was weaning off. My ability to smile, I mean. I felt empty in the world. Useless. Without a purpose.
But there wasn't a set reason.
I had a good life. Well, not good, per se, but not exactly terrible either. It was just casually liveable, at best.
So why am I so depressed?
I sighed, splashing cold water on my face from the sink. I needed to stop this. I had a life to live, grades to get, and some girl out there would be lost and stupidly single because her soulmate had decided to commit suicide, right?
Right. Keep telling yourself that.
Man. I really was desperate, wasn't I? A junior in highschool, a loser, a complete wimp who goes unnoticed. Even the kids who get picked on have it better than I do.
I'm just some background imagery for the main characters.
Hi, my name is forgotten, invisible, unnoticed.
At this point, I had completely dunked my head underwater, just wanting to drown it all out. I wanted to be a happy kid, like everyone else, and just live.
I pulled my head up in time to hear my phone. I don't want to answer it. I know who it is.
The main character.
Sometimes, I'm used like this. I get the inkling of a feeling that maybe I'm important. I have to be, if he's talking to me, right?
But then I go right back to being a background character, completely forgotten. Like we never even talked at all.
The stars had it written out, huh? That'd I'd die living a forgotten life like this.
"Hey, Mrs. Kempt told me to call you, um, she gave me your number... What was your name again?"
His voice was smooth against my ear, like velvet, maybe a little sweeter like chocolate. But it was sickening at the same time
He doesn't even remember my name.
"We've talked before," I mumbled, keeping the a thousand times, I've even given you my name like five! ... Inside my head.
"I'm sorry! I just can't ever remember. I wonder why? Normally I'm great at that kind of thing..."
"Don't worry about it. Todd. My name is Todd. Remember it this time?"
"Yeah, sure thing... Todd? Todd! I got it, Todd. So ah, I was told you took notes for me? Sorry for being absent, it was kind of important."
I shrugged momentarily, leaving the phone awkwardly silent. It took a moment to realize oh, he couldn't see that.
"Yeah, that's fine. She wanted you to have them before the weekend ended. Is there any way to get them to you? I can meet you somewhere, if you want."
He gasped, like he couldn't believe his ears.
"N-no way! You've already gone out of your way to write them down for me. I'll just swing by your place and get them myself. Is that okay?"
I glanced at the small apartment I was living in. No way. No way. He can't come over here. I've a dent in the shape of my ass in the couch. I've got clothes and trash strewn everywhere, he can't-

RomanceTodd was tired of being a background character. Nobody ever remember his name and, quite frankly, his existence altogether. Todd was worthless, irrelevant, and extremely easy to forget. And then there was the main character. Flawless as always, yes...
