Chapter 41

Sorry for not writing in a long time! I wrote this long chapter for you guys an I hope you like it!

Bangs and thumps followed the gun shot and then I got scared. I looked around at our group and noticed that everyone was here. All of us, Danielle, Brad, Don, and I. We all looked at each other with confusion in our eyes. We all were thinking the same question: Who the heck just died?

I took small, quiet steps toward the cafeteria. I was careful not to make a lot of noise because if I did, Im as good as dead. I motioned for the rest of the group to follow me and they did, but I don't think they got the "Be Quiet" memo. Danielle nearly tripped, Brad stumbled over his untied shoe lace, and Don zipped up his jacket. You'd think in a time like this that zipping up a jacket would be the least of your concerns. Guess not.

As I walked into the cafeteria doors, my mouth dropped to the floor. There was a body laying face down, but I don't think seeing their face would have mattered. They were completely mutilated! Blood was splattered everywhere. The floor was covered and some made it to the walls and the tables. I really couldn't tell who it is, but considering there was only 1 goon left, I figured that Bob was the victim.

Well, that was expected.

"See, I told you I can kill anyone at anytime." Kurstin smiled evily and twisted the revolver in her hands. There was blood splattered on the barrel and a little on the trigger.

"I remember when you used to be more fun. I remember when you used to love the idea of life." I said, while keeping a close eye on the deadly weapon she held.

"Yeah, well, that's not how I ever was."

We used to have so much fun together. The sleepovers, the days we used to go to the mall, the birthdays, the memories, all down the drain. That's when I thought of an idea, a plan. This would work. It would work. I hoped it would work.

"So you never loved Brad?" I smiled internally.

"Well, I-" I cut her off.

"So you never cared about anyone?"

"Lexi, don't do anything stupid." Don looked me in the eyes and pleaded me to not continue, but I didn't care. This was an opportunity I wasn't giving up.

"Don't you appreciate anything? What about the times that I helped you pick out outfits to impress the guys you liked at the mall? What about the puppy Danielle, Emily, and I bought you for your 15th birthday because your parents couldn't afford it? What about when you broke your leg and we helped you around school for 2 months?"

"No, I don't remember any of that." Kurstin said and moved her gaze from my eyes to the floor.

"That's a boat load of crap." I felt disgusted

"But Brad, I've always loved you. You know that!" Kurstin smiled the sickest, fakest smile she could muster up.

"I thought you loved me, but now I don't know. I don't know how I can even love you now. Y-Your a monster." Brad looked at the ground.

Kurstin's smiled faded. She lifted the gun and before anything happened, I shut my eyes. I heard 2 gun shots, but still refused to open my eyes. I sunk to the ground and landed on my knees. Why do my friends keep dying?

After the shock faded, I opened my eyes. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Brad was sitting up against a wall, unharmed. No bullet had ever hit his skin. Instead, Kurstin lie on the ground in a pool of blood. I got up and walked over to her limp body. She had 2 bullets right in between her eyes. I dropped on my knees again and tears flowed from my eyes freely. I don't care if she was a monster.

This monster was once my friend.
