"So this is what Australia is like..." I step off the plane and breathe in the fresh air. We landed in Sydney, Australia and I'm so excited to explore. I brought my camera and I'm ready to start shooting.

Once we go through baggage claim and customs and all that boring stuff, we finally are off to our hotel. I convinced my parents to let me roam the city alone, even though I said I wanted to spend as much time as I could with them. But I mean, it's Australia!! I have to do a little exploring without having to stop every 5 steps to read a sign or "take time to smell the roses".

We get to our hotel and I practically run up the stairs and throw my stuff on the bed. I then quickly say goodbye, grab my camera, and get outside. I decide to start walking to the right of my hotel.

Right as I'm snapping some pictures of the ocean (which is literally like 10 steps away from my hotel) my phone starts buzzing. I check and Nicole is trying to FaceTime me.

"Hey dude, I miss you so much!!" Nicole screams over the phone.

"Bro, it's been like a day...ME TOO!!" I scream back.

"So, what's it like there??" She asks me.

"See for yourself." I flip the camera and show her the incredibly blue ocean.

"Woahhhhhhh..." Is all I hear her say. Which makes sense, I did that for about a minute too.

"I know right. It's so beautiful."

"So Hails, you met any cute guys yet??" She smirks at me and starts doing some weird eyebrow dance.

"Yeah, have you?" I hear someone say as they put their head on my shoulder. What the hell, I instinctively reach down to grab my pepper spray I always have when I go on runs or go on adventures alone, but of course I didn't bring it to Australia. I wouldn't expect someone to RAPE me the first day here, or any day here!

Okay...I'm being a little dramatic. He hasn't raped me...yet. But I'm not letting my guard down.

"Can you not?!" I jump away so his head bounces off my shoulder. I turn and look at him and HO-LY CRAP. I am looking at a guy handcrafted by God himself. He has dark brown hair, not too long and not too short, glowing brown eyes, and a cheeky smile.

RAPE. RAPE. HE COULD RAPE YOU. DON'T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN. HAILS DON'T BE FOOLED THIS ISN'T HAPPENING AGAIN. (I'll explain "this isn't happening again" later in the story)

"Baby girl, why are you so tense?? Chillaxxxxx." Perfect faced harassment boy says.

"Hails?? Hails, what's going on, mchdjks mhhhdkjcodkd..." I forgot Nicole is still on FaceTime with me. She starts muffling and I hit end cautiously, trying to figure out how to escape from this beautiful creep.

"Hails is it? I'm Chris Lanzon, but you can call me anything you want." He steps closer. I take a step back.

"No no, why are you moving further from me? Come here sweets, I just wanna-"

Before he can finish I knee him in the groin and run. I can hear him groan and curse, but that doesn't stop me, I only go faster. Thank God I run on a regular basis so I go fast and far away from creepy Chris. Why the hell would a guy ever say stuff like that to a girl he doesn't even know?? I don't know what's wrong with some people. My mind is running a thousand miles an hour, as well as my legs, and I get so caught up in my thoughts I literally bulldoze someone down to the ground.

I hit my arm pretty hard on the ground and scrap up my leg. But I'm not in that much pain, definitely less then the guy who I trampled on top of.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I was just running and I didn't see you and oh gosh I'm so so sorry, are you okay??" I roll off of the guy and help him up. Holy mother of God are all boys in Australia living, breathing models?? This one has dark, but golden brown hair and big, beautiful eyes. He has golden skin that glows in the sun, and a very nice sense of fashion.

"It's totally okay, it's not everyday you get trampled in the middle of the sidewalk by some girl." I start laughing at his response.

"I'm Hailey, or Hails, by the way." I stretch out my hand to shake his. He shakes my hand back.

"I'm Ethan. Ethan Karpathy."

"Well it's nice to meet you Ethan Karpathy but I should probably be on my way."

"Ahhh, you must be from America? Right?"

"What gave it away?" I laugh.

"Well the accent didn't really scream I'm a fellow Australian, mate."

"HAHAHAHA, that would make sense. Well, I'll see you around Ethan."

"Yeah see you. Wait! I never got your number. You know, just to make sure you get home okay...or to your hotel or wherever you are staying."

"Oh...right. Here you go." I take his phone and add my contact and then get on my way.

At least 1/2 guys I met today wasn't a complete jackass.
