An Unfamiliar Skull

So it all happened a couple weeks ago.
I was staring at a fractured radius, to a skeleton from Limbo. When I heard Booth say, "Squints, we have a case."
I didn't take my eyes off the bone but I listened. He also introduced a new agent. I perked up, and saw a cheeky looking, tallish guy, thin, and had thick eyebrows. His hair quiffed to the side and he had curious eyes. "This is Agent Aubrey."
And that's where it all started.
I carefully placed the bone down and walked over to him gave him a quick glance, and smirked at him. He flashed a cheeky grin, and said, "What might be your name?"
My name rolled off my tongue. "Eliza, but just call me Liz." I didn't break eye contact.
"Pleasure to meet you, Liz."
I smiled to myself before taking my gloves off. As everyone else came to meet him, Booth had a small hint of sorrow in his eyes. I knew it was the pain of having to adapt to someone so quickly after Sweets.
I bit my lip and held back tears. We were really close, and he was like a brother to me. I breathed silently and finished taking my notes and asked Brennan if I could go on this case. After some pleading she gave in, and I was excited. I was going to find out more about this new agent.

15 minutes later

I sat in the front, with Aubrey in the back. I leaned over my seat to talk to him. We chatted about practically everything and clicked instantaneously. Booth looked at us like we were kids and just rolled his eyes. Me and Aubrey gushed on about one thing the most. Food. We both loved food, so we just went on for hours talking about it.
Finally when we got to the scene, we sadly had to part ways as he talked to witnesses. We both had a sad look as we parted and I looked at a corpse. Booth took notes in his pad, and I droned on about the corpse. Hodgins and Cam also determined some important things.
Finally after what seemed like years, we took the body back to the lab and I asked Aubrey to lunch at the Diner. He accepted and I met him there, with a grin on my face. "Hey, Liz!"
"Hi, James."
"How was the corpse?"
"Dry, decayed, bony, everything a corpse should be, I guess." I chuckled.
"Conspiracy again?"
"Not sure honestly."
The waiter came by and took our orders.
Aubrey smiled and said,"A hamburger and fries, some bacon and a cappuccino with cinnamon."
I happily gave her my order as well. "A Ruben sandwich, waffle fries, tuna salad, a shake and a sweet tea, please."
We both said thank you as the waiter went and passed on our orders. We chatted for hours until I got a text, from Booth.

Come to the lab it's important

I sighed, and got my stuff together quickly. "Booth needs me, he says its important, you're probably going to get a text soon."
"Oh, okay. Could I take you out to dinner-- tonight..?" He said awkwardly.
"Of course, James."
His phone blurted out a notification.
I silently nodded, mentally saying,
There it is.
When I arrived to the Lab, Booth was calling Caroline for an arrest warrant. Angela had Durant's face on the AngelaTron, one of our suspects. I looked confused until it clicked. "So he's the reason why Sweets is gone.."
I managed to croak out before hot tears started to run down my face and I fast walked to the bathroom. I cried for a bit, and then anger started to take over me and I stopped Booth on his way out. My eyes were red and puffy and I was still sniffling. He acted like he didn't notice but I knew that he knew. I sighed, "Should I come?"
He shook his head. He knew it was best, knowing I'd probably hurt him worse then his already swollen nose.
I nodded and texted Aubrey. I smartly got his number earlier, and texted him.

I know this is coming on strong but can I come over and just vent to you

Why what happened?

It's a long story.. Can I come?

Of course, here's my address

I breathed heavily still and drove fast to Aubrey's house. I pulled up and knocked on his door, my eyes even puffier from crying in the car. He took one look and knew I was crying. "Are you okay, Liz?"
I just shook my head and hugged him tightly. He wrapped his arms around me. He was technically a stranger. I had met him only today. But I felt like I had known him for years. The hug lasted, and I smelt a faint smell of cologne and a sweet smell that made me think of freshly made cookies. I was falling in love with a man I had only known for hours.
Was I nuts? He finally let go and I went inside his house. He had a Netflix show on pause, and had some junk food sitting on a small coffee table, in front of a brown couch. He had a blanket wrinkled up on the couch. "James?"
"Yes Liz?"
I looked at him straight in the eyes. He eyed me back, raising an eyebrow. He stepped toward me and I stepped towards him as well. I grabbed him by his suit and softly kissed him, with a small fire burning in my heart. He didn't kiss back and I leaned out.
"I-I, I'm.. Um, was.." I whispered in gibberish.
I couldn't fathom my words together. They slipped out of my hands as I tried to put them together to make a sentence. I looked at the door and grabbed my purse. My face was a deep red. Aubrey grabbed me and said "--Wait."
I looked at him, embarrassed and ashamed.
"Don't leave. I want you here."
I looked at him, doubting him.
He cupped my face and grabbed me by my waist and kissed me. I kissed back and my blush just intensified. "Are you just doing this to make me feel better? You wouldn't ever like someone like me."
"I've never met anyone like you."
We walked to his couch and I sat down, next to him. He eventually laid down and I was smushed awkwardly. I secretly wanted to just cuddle with him so bad. "Liz?"
"Yes, James?"
"Come and cuddle with me.."

We did not go to dinner that night.
