Covert Spy

Waking up in his bed, Edward Shaw felt a little strange. He lifted his arms and used his hands to push against the bed to rise into a seated position, able to squint and look around. He used his right hand to brush his dark brown hair back and rubbed his eyes as he looked to the body laying next to him, it was his girlfriend of 2 years Charlotte Williams although she looked a little different. Laying on her back, her soft blonde hair rested on the pillow beneath her head, messy from tossing and turning as her chest slightly moves up and down to support her breathing.

The morning light rose from the half open window and brightened the room. Edward now able to see with clear vision, he smiles at Charlotte's beauty as the morning sun rested on her half covered body. He pushed the blanket off himself and covered Charlotte fully so that no part of her was uncovered. Still feeling a little strange he went to the adjoining bathroom to wash his face and start his morning ritual. 

In the bathroom Edward picks up his toothbrush where he found it in the cup aside of the tap, which he found odd since he always places his toothbrush back where he usually putt it; in the cabinet behind the mirror. Picking up the toothbrush he was confused, he felt the strange feeling to open the cabinet. But when he did he found nothing, the cabinet was totally empty. He usually keeps panadol, other pain killers, his toothpaste and soaps but now everything was missing. 

It's all gone he thought to himself with confusion, he felt a sudden strange feeling in his head as if it were a pain happening on purpose. He closed the cabinet and noticed in the mirror standing behind him was Charlotte. The sudden head pain was gone at the sight of her, but why? He didn't understand the pain he just suffered in his head and why he felt so strange. 

"Ed, I need you..." Charlotte started saying "I need to know what happened April 5th. Please Ed? You wouldn't lie to me, would you?" Edward was confused and still feeling strange. 

"I don't.." Shaw still confused but tried to make out an answer, "I don't know.. I...I don't remember"

"Ed, I need to know. Tell me? What happened?"

"I don't know...I...I don't even know why we are talking about this again, we.....I told you I don't remember. It all was.....I don't know..." Edward was only feeling confused now, but he thought about what had happened on April 5th. He tried to, he tried to concentrate so hard to figure out what happened that night. 

It was a night that he and Charlotte were out coming home from dinner. They decided to cross Saint Andrews Street to get to Belfast Road where they parked the car on the second story car park. But before they met Saint Andrews Street they were met by a small group of men armed with knifes, a bat and a broken half pole. They were planning of robbing Edward and Charlotte and who knows what else what happen, but Edward stopped anything from happening. Two men, both dressed in black and dark brown one with a knife and the other with a bat, lunged at Edward. But he caught them in the air, Edward's elbow met the big bloke's stubble beard on his jaw as he fell to the ground, and Edward kicked the other guy in the back of the knee sending him half standing and Edward caught his face with his other leg, kneeing him. Edward had received training in Krav Maga while in bootcamp readying himself to be an ASIS officer (Australian Secret Intelligence Service).

All this was before he met Charlotte and he wasn't able to inform her about his real job yet, but that wasn't all he wasn't able to tell her. He still doesn't remember what happened after defeating those two, all he remembered what a sharp stabbing pain in his neck. But he couldn't tell her about his training and he couldn't tell her about those men even if he knew.

"I'm think that they were just trying to rob us" Edward said trying to cover the truth, he thought to himself it seemed plausible. 

"No. Who do you work for?" her face looked serious, she had changed from curious to trying to integrate him.
