“So... is this some sort of Alice in Wonderland sort of thing?” asked Sarto. His breath evaporated in front of his face, curling into tendrils as it dissolved into the icy air.
“Maybe,” replied Jaymisson, “Except Alice fell down the rabbit hole by accident. You want to be here.” The cat’s mouth spread into a wide-toothed grin as he flicked his tail against the boy’s leg.
“I never said I wanted to be here.” Sarto grumbled.
“True, but I know you. I’m in your mind after all.” The creature began to chuckle, his almost translucent paws hovering a couple of centimetres off of the damp leaves that coated the ground. Sarto shrugged. “I guess I just never imagined my own mind to be like this.”
