Her voice traveled throughout the orphanage leaving nothing but utter silence behind. She already led me to the entrance to the castle, which was a bed tied onto the castle with blankets of different colors made to look like a drawbridge.

"Alright, the Exceeds should be getting ready inside, now here are the rules of the trials," she pulled a chart of the castles blue print out of no where and pointed to a small figure of my head at the entrance. "Wait, haven't I been given the title of "maiden"? I asked staring dumbly at the blue print. "Well, that was just a start off title until you really make it to the trials." Then before I could interrupt her again she started to explain how it worked. Turns out I have three places in the castle that I need to go through without hurting anyone as I get by the traps. At the end of each trial there will be a question that will help depend where I belong. Also if I cheat then I am banished from the kingdom...forever. (dramatic thunder affect)

"Anyways, that's really all you need to know so far I'm sure you'll figure out how to survive it. Goodbye now!," she said tossing the blue print behind and running away before I could pressure her for more hints. Great, I thought I was meeting adorable little sweet orphans, adorable was right, but going up against a kingdom was not part of the plan. The opening to the castle opened. I peered inside to find nothing but darkness in the path. "Fine, lets get this over with." I can't stay here forever or else Mira's going to kill me. Determined to go in and out of the trials in as least time as possible I ran in without looking back as the drawbridge closed behind me leaving me in darkness. I stared on ahead trying to get use to the lack of light, but before I even took a step forward a circle of light formed a few inched in front of me. I looked up to see an exceed holding a holding a flashlight on a well placed mattress.

"What in the-"

"Welcome challenger to the first trial of the three grand trials! Here's a clue to what you have to do," the voice seemed to come from no where, but it was the voice of Shuryo no doubt. "Here at stage one you have but two choices, to hide in the shadows, or get caught by the voices. Don't let one near you, or hear you or see you for if they do we wouldn't want to be you.......who wrote this?!" Another unrecognizable voice came up. "Shut up, I only had five minutes!"

Sure enough, spotlights started moving across my path, slowly creeping across to see if they can catch a small sign of me. "It's a 'don't get caught game'," I said under my breath. I looked down on my worn out sneakers and held in a groan, these aren't going to work. Holding both foot wear in one hand I began scanning the path for any patterns in the way that they aimed the lights. Turns out there was no pattern, they were really just randomly aiming it anywhere. This was more difficult. The light in front of me moved away and I took a careful step forward trying not to drop my shoes. The rest of the way was easy enough and I was half way to the lit up end before something exploded next to me. Not an explosion really more like a burst. I froze in my step and turned to look at the source of the noise.

A green liquid substance splattered across the mattress next to me. In the dim light it seemed to glow. I guess they thought I had it easy because now they're air raiding the place with glowing water balloons. One of them almost got me but I managed to dodge it out of luck while holding in surprised squeak. By now the whole place in front of me ,except the small patch of un goo-a-fied mattress which I was standing on, glowed. Even if  manage to get past by the small patches it might stick to me. "Shuryo or whoever thought of this, you unfair genius."

My shoes were still dangling by my side before a light bulb went off. I felt myself smile in spite of the situation and bend down to wipe my left shoe in the goo. Then with a small goodbye, I hurled it to the right and immediately dashed to the left as the spotlights started following my flying and glowing shoe. The diversion only bought me seconds, but with the right one clutched in my hand I can create more time. I sprinted across the path not caring how the lights started to follow my trace. Then with a small dip in the goo, I let the other shoe fly ahead to me before sprinting to the finish.

I crashed in due to my speed and narrowly escaped the lights that were gaining on me. "WOOHOO!!!," I said celebrating my victory with a fist pump to the air. I slowed my fast pulse and tried to stop smiling like an idiot who just won a medal. Laughing, I yelled out "Is that all you've got?!" Then stopped laughing when something hard crashed right where I was standing before. "Apparently not." The lights were on suddenly when a blanket was pulled back. And the thing that crashed was a pillow filled with.....rocks.......ROCKS?!

"Welcome to trial two challenger! Now here it wont be so easy" I could already see his smirk from where I stood under him as a whole army of exceeds stood on the held of mattresses. I felt the adrenalin start to flow.  I gave him my own smirk. "Bring.It.On."
