10 Things You Should Never Tell A Fanfic Writer

This is all things I have been told at least once or twice in my time as a writer

1) its about time you release something, isn't it?

My response to that is: it's about time you find a fucking hobbie and stop nagging me all the time to "work harder"

As a writer who puts effort in to her craft I can say that it is extremely difficult to keep a story going by releasing too many chapters in a short amoumt of time.
Let's say I did have the time to sit all day and write, I need some time to think about the plot and figure my shit out before writing anything.

2) this one is for smut writers: you are so gross and such a pervert

Well then...why the fuck are you reading my content?

3) you need to write more about the hyung line

Don't tell a writer who to write about. Ever. Unless they do requests and you ask nicely in which case is ok.
Most writers choose their characters according to the plot and they just matchmake which character fits best to which roll.

Regardless, dont ever start a sentence with "you need". Ask nicely, fiction writers are giving you the stories for free so dont feel like you own them and can afford to boss them around.

4) anyone can be a fan fiction writer

It is actual work.
Only the people who have the patience and the durability to sit their asses down and invest their thoughts in to a single plot completely thought out by them can do a third of what we do. But then there is dealing with the hate and this discouragement coming from other people that you have to deal with.
You need to be creative and wild. Just grasping the concept of fanfiction is insane.

6) writing about other people is considered violating their personal space

Ok so there's this magical thing called fan fiction. It is a ganere of fiction that has been a thing since computers started having notebook apps.
People have been writing fan fiction for so long it has become an actual cultural thing.
Did you know fifty shades of grey is based of a twilight fan fiction?

The concept that people think that fan fiction is something disturbing and crossing boundaries is stupid. Its like me saying that writing articals about a certin artist is invading their personal space when it's not.
Every person in the entertainment industry is getting in it knowing that he/she is always going to be in the public eye weather its to their liking or not.

never ask a person a question like that. It is crossing all sorts of lines that are beyond disturbing and scarring.

I have no problem with roleplaying but that is just.... Way too blunt, why dont you try asking nicely like "hey, do you maybe feel like roleplaying any time soon?"
