I sighed heavily as I scrolled through the place I hold most dear, my distraction, my saving grace. Just as I thought all was well, my stomach turned. Memories flooded in. That long, greasy, cascading stringy substance moved like seaweed in a strong current, trapping innocent creatures. The mountain the protruded from its skull, almost like a crooked beak of a scrawny bird, ready to strike. Two dark, cavernous orbs followed my eyes as I tried to look away, but I couldn't. Something was forcing me to keep staring. I tried to run from the horribleness catching up with me, I felt myself being encased by the feeling of leather and dry, cracking skin. It was too late. I had been engulfed, I feel a terrible pain in my left arm come back, I remember when the creature had attacked me there. My heart was racing as I was trapped in a corner, the monster slowly making its way towards me. The dark orbs flickering and twitching as it approached me. I swore I would never encounter this again, but here I was. The sound of scraping metal became more apparent, the noise raising to the level of a full on screeching as its horrible long talons dragged themselves across the floor. Above the screeching metal, I heard it begin to try to speak, communicating almost, but all that left its mouth was terrifying mumbling and slurred speech, as it continued it because more frustrated and spoke even faster. Now it was within a few arms lengths of me. What could be assumed as a face came into the dim light of my glowing safehaven, which had been thrown a few feet when I had been attacked. I could see everything from my memories. The oil black sludge, the jagged beak, the jittering eyes that slowly came into my line of vision. Then it pounces. I scream, hoping anyone could hear but instead, I feel nothing. My eyes snap open to a brightly lit glass screen, I breathe a sigh of relief. I just as I begin to reassure myself it wasn't real, I am safe now, I shall never see the creature of those depths again: I hear the screech of metal behind me. Time seems to stand still as I see a shadow growing larger on my wall, the sounds amplifying. It was all a dream, wosn't it though?
