Narrator: As the world advances on a more technological kind of life, most of us, Filipinos, have been caught up in such modern changes. Most of us, children and teenagers had forgotten the legacy that our grandparents, parents and most older people had left us. And one of those legacies are our very own values- the Filipino values.
Now, here's a short presentation to make us remember what some of those values are.
Scene 1
Narrator: Once upon a modern day, In a little apartment somewhere in a little town, there lived a family. Well, they actually live a happy life until one day...
(phone rings)
Pat: Hello?
Jackie: Hello? Pat?
Pat: Jackie? Is that you?
Jackie: Of course! Soooo, how've you been?
Pat: Good. How about you?
Jackie: Well, I actually called to ask you a bit of a favor.
Pat: It's about your son, I suppose?
Jackie: Yeah. He's been a bit unstable....you know how liberated kids are here in U.S.
Pat: Well, you could send him over here to have a vacation.
Jackie: Really? Wow! Thanks Pat! I'll arrange his flight schedule then.
Narrator: After having the conversation with her friend who migrated to America, Pat decided to tell the family members about it over dinner.
(pray then eat)
Pat: uhm, we might have a visitor within the coming week.
Ken: who’s this visitor of us?
Pat: do you remember Jackie?
Ken: yes, I remember her, she’s your friend from high school right?
Pat: well, her son will have a vacation here in the Philippines and I offer her to let her son stay here in our house.
Ken: it’s fine with me.
Pat: Reah, Alvin, i want you to treat him well okay?
Reah and Avin: yes mom.
Scene 2
Narrator: One sunny morning, while Alvin and Rhea were off to school...
Alvin: Hey sis, look. the old man might need help with that.
Rhea: Yeah. We still have 15 minutes before the bell rings. Let's go help him cross the road bro.
(help Carlo)
Alvin: would you mind if we help you with that grandfather?
Carlo: (smiles) didn't know kids like you still exists these days.
Rhea: our parents thought us well. (smiles back)
Carlo: thank you.
Alvin: No prob-Hey! ( sasagiin ni Joven na nagmamadali)
Rhea: geez! didn't even stop to say sorry.
Alvin: It's alright sis. Maybe he's just in a hurry.
Narrator: After helping the old man, both decided to go to school.
Scene 3
Narrator: While Alvin and Reah are walking near their house, they saw a man standing at their front door, so they decided to ask him.
Alvin: hey bro, are you our visitor from US?
Jeck: yes, I’m Jeck.
(shakehands)
Alvin: I’m Alvin, and this is my sister, Reah, let’s go inside, I’ll help you with you things.
Narrator: when they enter the house, they immediately went to their mom to kiss her hand (pagmamano) as a sign of respect.
Many days have passed and Pat’s family treated Jeck very well. Jeck learned so many things with them like praying and going to church every Sunday, respecting elders, helping other people, and many more. A time comes that he need to go back to Us because his vacation is done. Her mother was so happy when she saw the changes of his son. She’s so thankful to Pat’s family for teaching her son Filipino values.
