Azriel smiled as he watched her from across the table. The dinner had turned out just as he had planned. Everything was perfect and all he wanted was for it to go smoothly.
She looked even more beautiful sitting under the light of the moon. It enhanced her features and made him crave her. He wanted to feel her touch, craved the feeling of her lips.
He noticed her stare towards the Sidra and he smiled. "Beautiful" He mumbled.
She turned her head to look at him at his voice and a blush spread to her cheeks. "The Sidra," He said smoothly. He had in no way been talking about the river to their left.
Amara nodded in response, silently looking back to the sparkling river. The moonlight reflecting in the clear water. "Fly us over it?" She asked so softly he questioned if he had even heard her.
"Of course, I'll take you anywhere you wish to go." He said with a smile, resting his cheek on his palm as he stared at her.
Amara's lips lifted up into a smile and she turned her head back to glance at him. Azriel's stomach fluttered at her gaze, their eyes meeting again. He felt the bond between them and itched to tug at it.
Her brows raised slightly and he hadn't realized the idiotic smile on his face that had formed when he had been watching her. He probably looked like a love sick idiot. He quickly lifted his face from his hand and cleared his throat, looking over at the Sidra.
He really needed to stop getting caught staring at her all the time. It was getting embarrassing. He had never been so sloppy before and it was becoming a habit with her. Staring for longer than noticed and her catching him.
"I thought they called you Spymaster for a reason." She teased lightly with a grin on her face.
Azriel chuckled softly, "I usually am not this sloppy." He turned his head back to look at her, crossing his arms over his chest.
Amara placed her cheek onto her palm as she looked over at him only causing the cleavage in her neckline to increase. He bit down on his inner cheek to keep his eyes from wandering down from her face. He'd need to throw himself into the Sidra if she kept leaning forward like that.
"You'll have to show me just how good you are at your job before I would ever believe you." She giggled softly and it sent a wave through him. Her giggles were sweet music to his ears and brought that dumb smile onto his lips again and again.
"I'll have to do just that. I can't have you going around thinking I'm some amateur." He said with a grin, wanting to hide them both into shadows for a different activity. To show her how truly experienced he really was.
The door of the roof opened and a water walked up with a tray of food in her hands.
Amara immediately sat up and smiled at the food. This brought another chuckle from his lips, surprising the waitress who stared at him before placing their food down onto the table.
He kindly thanked her before she disappeared back down into the restaurant below and he looked down at his food hungrily. Finally something to distract himself from her. It had grown tiresome trying to restrain himself from pushing back the chair and laying her down somewhere on that roof.
He cut into the fish he had gotten while she dug into her hearty steak. He hadn't expected her to order anything small like a salad. With the women he spent time with he expected them to order more food than the rest of them. Mor had proven that to everyone and regretted it that night.
They ate in silence, Amara thoroughly enjoying her food while he enjoyed his. They occasionally spoke, teasing each other further and mostly just enjoying each others presence. He had continued to glance up at her, 'accidentally' catching a glimpse of her cleavage when she bent down to reach for the salt.
He sat stared at the Sidra for such a long time after that his fish had gone cold. He should have worn thicker pants that night, or a longer tunic but that probably wouldn't have done any good.
Amara finished her food, leaning back into her chair and sighed happily. It had been so delicious, and so was the man sitting across from her. Cauldron why did she crave him so badly? She had never felt this way before. All she wanted to do was climb into his lap. She had been purposely leaning over so much all night, just to tease him. But once he had finally looked at them it only made her hunger worse.
She turned her head to look back at the mountains and smiled knowing Rhys and Feyre were living up there in their town house. Seeing them together made her realize just what she wanted in life. She wanted what they had. A mate and a love so strong not even death could tear them apart.
"Are you ready?" Azriel's voice, low and husky asked and she turned her head back to him.
"Hmm?"
Azriel chuckled and stood up from the table, their plates having been cleared, or winnowed downstairs. He spread out his wings. "Are you ready to fly?" He asked with a large grin on his lips.
Amara blushed, having forgotten about her simple request to be taken flying.
"Yes, of course." She said shyly and stood up.
She placed her hand into his and raised a brow at the look in his eyes. He swiftly scooped her up into his arms and she squeaked. Azriel laughed and it was the most beautiful thing she had ever heard.
"Not used to being picked up?" He asked spreading out his wings to their full length. Suddenly a memory swept back into her mind.
"You know their wingspan is correlated to the size of another part."
Feyre had told her that once, and as she glanced at Azriels wingspan at full length she blushed bright red and bit down onto her lip. She gulped pulling her eyes away from his wings to look up at his face and no where else. Thankfully her own body was blocking the view of a certain area so she couldn't really check.
"It would have helped if you had warned me." She poked his chest with her finger, wrapping an arm around his neck so she didn't fall out of his arms. Though she doubted he would let her with how strong he was.
"If I had you wouldn't have made that adorable squeak."
They both blushed as red as a tomato.
He hadn't meant to say that, it had just come out. Shit he probably just ruined everything. But when looked down, she stared at his chest and he noticed the edges of her lips curving up into a smile. Maybe he hadn't screwed up at all.
Azriel kept his arms firmly around her back and under her legs as he braced himself and shot up into the sky quicker than she must have expected, because she gasped and clung to him.
He smiled, finally feeling her arms wrapped around him and her warmth on his body. It had been what he had wanted to feel for the past week, and especially that day.
Azriel moved his wings moving them higher into the sky until he paused, hovering them in midair over the Sidra with a perfect view of Velaris. He looked down at her, her face buried into his chest and he never wanted her to let go.
"Open your eyes," he said softly to her.
Amara kept her arms wrapped tightly around his neck, slowly opening the eyes she had squeezed shut and moved her head away from his chest.
Her gasp was not of fear or shock, but in awe of the view. She had possibly never seen anything so beautiful in her entire life. The moonlight reflected off of the Sidra, making it look like pure starlight. The city was alight, fanlight in every window and the moon made soft shadows around the city.
"It's beautiful." Amara breathed, her eyes fixated on the landscape before her.
Azriel's eyes were softly fixed on the woman in his arms and he nodded in agreement. He let her look over the city for a little while, moving them around so she could see different views of the city from above.
"Ready for some fun?" He said into her ear, his hot breath sending shivers down her spine.
Before she could respond, or even react Azriel already had them gracefully diving back down towards the Sidra and she smirked. She still clutched to him with her arms growing more uncomfortable the closer to the water they got.
Azriel grinned, looking only at the water below them feeling her growing closer and closer to his chest. Right before they would have dived into the water he twisted them, sending them flying directly above the water close enough to touch. He kept his speed quick and chuckled.
Amara looked down at the water, seeing their reflection against the ripples. She reached out her hand, barely even extending her elbow before her finger tips grazed the surface of the water.
Her lips curved up into a wide smile, giggling happily as her fingers ran through the water as they flew horizontally above it.
They flew along the Sidra until Azriel sent them back up into the air and she loosened her arms around his neck growing more relaxed. She giggled and rested her head onto his shoulder looking around at the mountains and the river. Everything was perfect.
Azriel flew them gracefully through the air. "I want to take you somewhere." He said and started flying them away from the Sidra. He didn't want to winnow, no he wanted to keep her flying as long as possible. He flew them up higher towards the mountains.
They stayed at a steady pace, Amara keeping her head against his chest as she glanced around with a soft smile on her face. A few times he would drop or quicker, whether to show off or to scare her for amusement she didn't know. Maybe it was both. She was seeing a side of Azriel he usually did not show others and it made her so unbelievably happy.
"What a show off." She teased looking up at him with a grin. "You already have the biggest wingspan Az."
Azriel's smirk deepened and he kept his wings wide with pride. "Have you taken the time to check on that little piece of information?"
"No, but I might have to. Just to know for myself." Cauldron boil her.
Azriel chuckled and kept them flying in the air until they reached the top of a mountain peak and he lowered them down onto the ground. It was colder that high up into the mountains.
She shivered when she stepped away from him, stepping back into the warmth of his chest and looked around. "What is it you wanted to show me?" She asked, looking around only seeing more mountains and the night sky.
Azriel gently took her hand, making sure she stayed close to him for warmth and he moved her over to a specific spot on the peak and pointed. "There."
Amara turned and gaped at the view. It was an overview of the city, the Sidra, and even the beginning of the vast ocean beyond the Night Court. It was beautiful.
"Oh Az, this is all so amazing."
He kept himself near her, and took a step to stand behind her. He looked out over the view and sighed. "I've always loved the view from this spot."
Amara tilted her head to the side, looking up at him and smiled. "Thank you for taking me here," She shivered again and chuckled, "but I think it's time to go home."
He nodded and scooped her up once more, taking them both back to the House of Wind. Carefully he lowered them down onto the balcony and lowered her back onto her feet. His heart was racing as he looked down at her, having felt that comforting closeness with her. He did not want it to end.
Amara turned back hugging her arms and gave him a smile. "Thank you for tonight. It was, perfect." It really had been the best night of her life.
"I would gladly do it all again for you." Azriel gave her a gentle smile, the one that always had her heart melting. He stood in front of her, glancing down at her and leaned down towards her. He gently put her hand in his and brought it to his mouth.
His lips were soft as he kissed her hand and she blushed.
Azriel straightened and kept her hand in his as he stood directly in front of her. "Sweet dreams, Amara." He said softly and started backing away towards the edge of the balcony. Their hands extended, wanting to hold onto each other for a little bit longer and then their finger tips released.
"Sweet dreams." She said, almost like a whisper as he reached the edge of the balcony and winnowed away.
