It's your first day in your Internship, you were one of the few fresh graduates that got in the Internship program of Nike. Hoping for a permanent job here, you bought new clothes, had your hair freshly cut and colored.
You were welcomed by Talent Acquisition, Freddie.
"Hey! Stella, right?"
"Yes, hello!"
"Great! So your desk is right here."
She pointed me at a corner desk, beside 3 more desks. The office space, well at least my area, was free, open space, modern office look, in my opinion.
"You'd be working under Ms. Jones, she works with sponsors and partnerships. She will meet you in 20 mins, so for now, get comfy."
"Great! Thank you!"
20 mins later, still no Ms. Jones, so I started roaming asking for Mrs. Jones, turns out she's in the media room, in a meeting.
"I think you should check her there, she might need you." Frankie said.
I was walking to the media room, when I heard screaming and a bit frustration, and Portuguese?
I knocked and peeped my head, "Hello, Ms. Jones?"
An olive skinned woman in heels, "Oh yes? Stella? Sorry! I'm talking to FC Porto, please come in."
She continued attempting to speak in Portuguese, I was sitting at the end of a long table, she looked hopeless from where I'm sitting and I can't help but extend help,
"Ms. Jones? Uh.. I speak a little bit Portuguese. I can help."
She looked at me like I was fresh meat and she was a Hyena, "You should've said earlier! Can you.... Please?"
She handed me the phone and I asked the other person on the line, Ms. Jones was trying to get a Portuguese player for Strike Night. I talked to a Portuguese woman while Ms. Jones was typing what she wanted to say.
The phone call was a success, the Portuguese player was a go, and I felt good, my boss was happy, I gave off a good first impression so overall, nice Job Ella Bella, I said to myself!
"Thank you for that Stella! So... Lets get back to business, okay. So you'll be working under me. I'm in love with you already by the way! Wait, how did you know how to speak Portuguese?"
"Well... I speak 4 languages, and one of them Spanish and a little Portuguese."
"You fit right in! I do meetings with people from different backgrounds, culture, country, usually we stick to English, but having you, might help to make it more personal!"
"That's what I'm here for!" I def' feel like a Teacher's pet, but it felt great.
Overall, my first week was great, nothing eventful happened.
I woke up to a cold Saturday Morning... Typical London. So I was born in Spain, raised in America, and I moved to London for College. Which is great because I get to visit my dad and his family.
I just finished working out when I received a text from Tessa, that's Ms. Jones,
"Hey! Do you want to go to Strike Night?" was I being called for work?
"Sure! I'd love to help out! Any required outfit? Do I need my ID?"
"Oh no! You're not really working tonight, I got tickets and I'm inviting you, as a thank you!"
"Really? Wow thank you, Alright! I'll be there!"
Guess I'm going out tonight!
