I open my eyes and look around the dim room. What time is it? I glance at my clock. 5:37 glares at me in angry red digital numbers. I still have 20 minutes, but I know there's no chance of me sleeping anymore.
Shuffling my feet across the wood floor, I find my light switch and flip it on. I rub my eyes and get dressed in the clothes I had laid out the night before. The light colored jeans hug my hips tightly. My blouse is cut low enough to enhance my chest, but not look too slutty.
I lightly apply makeup, finishing with a red lipstick to match my shirt and flats. I quietly make my way downstairs to fix myself breakfast before I have to leave. I hear my alarm go off upstairs. Damn it.
After running to shut it off, I'm at the table eating cereal when my phone chimes.
Hey bestie! You ready for the first day of school?
I grin at the text and reply half heartedly.
Sure Melanie. Goodmorning btw. I'll see you in a little bit.
My phone instantly beeps back at me.
Morning Kat! See ya soon!!! ❤️❤️
I put my empty bowl in the sink, grab my car keys and head to the garage to drive my car to school. I shoot a goodbye text to my still sleeping dad and leave.
