The Wing of Hope

It was all worked out. Dad got a "letter" in the mail from mom, complaining that she was lonely and desired a traveling companion, namely me. Dad huffed over it a great deal but I could see that he was eager to get rid of me. He obviously had no interest or skill in raising a girl. All was set and I moved into the Stella with a few of my books and my bow. I brought along with me a few "diguises" that were really different clothes for different occasions including an outfit very much like Scip's with a gondola driver's shirt, some black pants, a black jacket, and a black mask.

My mask was different than Scipio's. It had no nose and it had a swirling pattern of glitter. It covered the area around my eyes in a flattering feminine way. I liked my mask better because I didn't have the danger of running into things with some intimidating nose.

A few days later Scipio brought back some amazing spoils for us to sell to Barbarossa. Among them was something I recognized very well. I pulled Scipio aside and slammed him into the wall, pinning him with my arm across his throat.

"What the heck Scip? Are those our sugar tongs? In fact I think I recognize every single thing in that pile!"

"Shut up Stella! Do you want them to hear you?"

I sighed and adjusted the hem of my blouse. "No! But you know our... your nanny could get fired for their disappearance!"

Scipio sighed in frustration, "you don't think I know that? I'm trying to help these people Stella!"

I put my face right in front of his and whispered very fiercely, "I hope you know what you're doing." Then I shoved off of him and stalked away slowly.

The next day Riccio and Prosper went to sell the wares to Barbarossa. They came back jovial, having traded them for much money. Apparently the gorgeous god child was excellent at bargaining. We feasted that night and Riccio had even more news. Barbarossa had a client, a client who was willing to pay a large sum of money for us to steal something for him. If we wanted to take the job then we needed to meet the client at a church in Saint Marco' Square. We jumped for it. The next day they all went out to meet the mystery client. This was the first time Scipio had gone out in broad daylight as the thief lord so I stayed behind to watch the Stella. They came back with a carrier pigeon, a set of blue prints, and  photograph of the item they were to steal. It was a photograph of a wooden wing.
