"I'll see you later tonight gorgeous." Marcus called as he headed for the door.

"I'll be here!" I called out knowing he probably didn't hear me, as he was most likely already in the elevator, going down. I laid back on the leather white couch that was filled with many late night memories. An exasperated sigh escaped my lips and I pushed myself up off the couch to pour myself a nice glass of white wine.

Noticing it was almost empty I shrugged and poured it all; making a mental note to buy more.

Wine was undeniably a girls best friend.

Glancing across the counter I spotted my phone and snatched it without hesitancy. The glow of the phone was the only source of light in mine and Marcus's comfortable sized apartment, other than the lamp that stood up against the tan walls. The view that hung four floors below never ceased to amaze me. Even if it was in a small town such as ours.

I scrolled through endless amounts of photos that belonged to random people wanting to share their life with others. A bunch of them didn't really catch my attention except one. My thumb stopped working and rested on the photo that seemed to pique my interest. It wasn't anything extravagant other than the gleaming, clear rock that rested - quite nicely - on some lucky women's left hand, ring finger.

The caption read,

"ENGAGED!! Mr. Right finally proposed! #Solucky!"

My mind wandered to my own relationship and what was to be expected, but I didn't know. Three years full of road trips, late nights, sober thoughts behind drunken words and I still don't know what he truly wants. I've never doubted my love for him or vice versa but it's nights of distress when I wonder when and if he will ever pop the question...

It's not like I'm dying to get married right away either it's just... nice to know if that's what the other person wants. I shook the thoughts away not wanting to mess with the buzz of the wine and opened my messages.

Clicking on the name, "My girl<3", my thumbs glided over the keyboard spelling out a hang-out request. In seconds my friend - Jessica Langley, replied with a disappointing context.

My girl<3 : "Hey Soph! Would love to hang but it's a late night at the office for me :( Rain check?"

Sighing, I typed a quick definitely and placed my phone down. Both my boyfriend and friend are working late... I guess it's me, myself and wine again. Not that I was complaining.

Before I could sit back down, my phone started buzzing consistently. I turned it over and the name, "Mom." Flashed on the screen. I groaned knowing it was probably so she could lecture me about something she supposedly heard I did and decided to answer it anyway. I smiled, "Hey Mom! How's it going?"

"Soph, don't act like you're happy to hear from me. Especially when we both know it's the exact opposite." Her voice sounded more dull than usual.

Well that's one way to break the ice... "Okay, so what's up?" I asked with a bored type of curiosity.

"Are you sitting down honey?" She inquired.
