Your POV
You'd followed sasuke and saw his fight but when it's all over you'd headed back to the gates making sure you were followed by sasuke as you'd told him earlier you knew blind spots of where the leaf is guarded. Sasuke had caught the last guard ever seen by genjutsu but it's not until you're far from the village where he had notified you that the person who he'd caught in his genjutsu had seen you die in the genjutsu, so when word of mouth gets around you'd be clarified dead.
You throw your mask away and brake it then look back one last time at the leaf village...and walk away with sasuke. You can never go back as long as you live.
Hours later you see a figure waiting for you. It's itachi. He sets his eyes on his brother
