Time jump of six months
Celine's POV

Though us kids are meant to have fun on this trip, there is a certain amount of things that you need to know about werewolves. First, you need to know where your place is going to be in the pack. Are you going to be a healer, a seer, Alpha, Luna, Beta, Gamma, or a warrior. A lot of werewolves know their destiny, but there are some that need help. Like me for example. I don't know if I'm going to be a healer or a warrior yet. I like both positions but in one you give life and the other you take it. I know I'm at two very different ends of the totem pole.
Secondly, you need to know the function of each position. A Healer has the job of taking care of pack members, trusted with everyone's life, and knows all the secrets of our ancestors healing capabilities. A Seer is like a hippie in my opinion. They learn how to use the power of our ancestors in death to see into the future or the past. They interpret dreams, and make herbs for people as well. An Alpha, is the muscle of each pack. They are the strongest of the people, smartest, and they know how to make decisions concerning the pack. Next in the hierarchy is the Luna. She is the heart of each pack and is held with the highest respect because she is the mate of the Alpha wolf. She takes care of everyone in the pack, smiles and helps calm everyone, but she is also the strongest when it comes to fighting amongst the females. The Beta would be next. He is the right hand of each pack. Helps make decisions concerning the pack and he is there to make sure everything goes the way the Alpha wants it done. The Gamma, is basically a third in command. They are the toughest warrior in the pack and they help with strategy and the physical training of each individual warrior. A Warrior, is a fighter, they listen to the Alphas command at any time and they train for a good portion of their lives. All of these positions help a pack run and operate the way it needs to.
Third, you need to know where each pack stands in the eyes of the royal family. There are ten packs in America and they hold range over a few states. They have their boarders and boundaries and there should be no conflict between packs. The royal family lives in the highest part of the country and the packs closest to that are the most cherished. The ones further away hold more of a menial title than the others. This doesn't mean they are not important, it just means that they are more warriors and healers than anything. This is in case of a war. So the royal family is secure. They have the strongest packs on the outside of the country, ready to protect. Then as you get more into the middle you have the title holders and people that make the fighting pack's lives more sustainable and livable. They take care of finances and food.
The size of the pack is completely determined by fate. And by that I mean mates. Because every wolf travels to each pack when the majority of them hit 18, this allows them to find their mates and see where they go in the order of things. Mates often determine status. If you have a mate of higher status than you, you follow that mates calling. The reason mates are so important is because werewolves are beasts in a sense and we are not complete souls when we are born. When we find our mates, our souls become complete and whole. That's why they are so important and if you find them it is a beautiful thing and you are immediately connected to one another.
It has been a total of six months and so far that is what I've learned. We have been brought to four packs so far and we are slowly making our way to the middle of the country. We have been to the Dark Knight pack where some of our people got off the bus for good and stayed with their Mates. They were a tough warrior pack that made up a large quantity of the fighting forces werewolves have.
Then we went to the Blood Moon pack. They had more healers and seers in their pack and we found that it was the main place of study for them. Every healer or seer visits this place once or twice in their lives to learn from many old and wise werewolves.
The Dark Forrest pack is another pack with many warriors and they taught us some fighting skills and the most efficient ways to train in wolf form. More of the people on our bus got off and stayed there with their Mates. It was all very beautiful to see. Men and woman coming together and instantly loving everything they see. It made me hope for when I meet my mate.
Only one person left us when we got to the last pack we were at. A girl named Opus. She was the new Alphas mate. The pack was smaller than most and it was mainly used as a halfway point. People went there to stay for a few nights and then move on after that. Its called the Crescent pack.
We are now headed to the top training pack in the country. Alphas come here to train for the day they take their father's places. Some Betas train here as well. It is called the Blood Fang pack.
The bus was getting more cramped even though people kept leaving. The air was hot and humid and we were all silently resting. I was currently reading a book and listening to some music, when one of our leaders yelled that we would soon be coming to the packs boarders. We all had to go through a clearance check to get in. Security was always tight at these packs. I put my book back into my carry on and took one headphone out of my ear. I glanced over to see if Connie heard but she was passed out against the window.
"Tamra...Tamra! Get up. We are going to be there any minute." I spoke loudly and nudged her shoulder. She sat up straight but she was still out of it. I reached over and smacked her cheek lightly until she looked at me with open eyes.
"Which pack again?" she asked a little sluggishly.
"Blood Fang. You know the one with the most testosterone in it." I said laughing.
"Oh, okay. I'm up, I'm up." she took the blanket that was around her and shoved it into her pink duffle bag. The bus slowed to a stop and everyone got up with their carry on and walked toward the exit of the bus. Five men stood at the entrance of the pack with a table for our bags.
"Put your bags on the table and get in groups of four." Tamra and I were up first. I sat my duffle down and went to stand in the line. Tamra came after, then Brett, and Lucie. We were all used to this, because every pack had this system.
Everybody soon got cleared and we were sent to the main pack house. We were escorted by an older man in his thirties. He had salt and pepper hair, with blue eyes and a bright smile. He gave a us a brief history of the pack and then we were given rooms. Tamra, a girl named Marcie, and I all bunked in one room. The rooms were very large, with three beds, a bathroom, and dresser space for all of us. There were no T.Vs or stereos. The rooms were meant for basic purpose.
"Hey let's get dressed and go on a tour of the pack." Marcie suggested to Connie and I. I looked over at Connie and she was passed out on the bed with her feet hanging off of the side.
"Sure sounds like fun." I said and walked into the bathroom. I pushed the shower open and turned the water on. I stripped from my sweaty clothes and took the braid out of my black hair. The water was luke warm as I stepped in.
In the back of my mind I could feel my wolf's nerves on edge. Like she was pacing in my mind.
"What's wrong?" I asked her while I washed my hair.
"I don't know. I feel like something important is going to happen today. Just keep an eye out." she said quickly.
Though I didn't know it now, her words were more true than anything else.
