Sebastian and William knew each other in their human years but Sebastian forgot about him when he was a demon. William remembered him, that's why he didn't attack Sebastian directly when he picked up Grell. He wished that he could tell Sebastian that they were once friends but the idea of a demon befriending a Shinigami was outrageous.
