"So you're telling me after an entire year of reading through and heavily analysing 'The Kite Runner', you don't even know the name of the author?" I shook my head in disappointment as I stared at the brown haired boy who blankly stared at the book in my hands. "I remember his name, of course. I just forgot how to spell it. So if you would just..." He reached his tanned arm out take the book out of my hands before I moved his hand away, smirking. "Uh, yeah right. Nice try." I rolled my eyes as he sighed. "Okay, I've forgotten alright? E did a completely different novel than me. All I can remember is Chuck Palhuik's vivid world of Fight Club and how Tyler turned out to not be a real guy and..." "-Khaled Hosseini, that's K-H-A-L-E-D." I interrupted, placing the book back onto the table as I continued to spell out the rest of the authors full name to which he jotted down in his notebook. I went to take a sip out of my cup of coffee only to find that it was empty. "I'm gonna go re fill this." I said as I ran my hair through the brunette boys hair as he sighed once more, sweeping up the hair that was laying down on his forehead. Swiftly, he turned to face me and put his hand on my waist. "Why don't we just leave this? I can hardly remember the authors name, let alone the story line." He softly closed his eyes as I traced my thumb over his right eyebrow. "You're over stressing." I stated. "Then take the stress away." He said coming closer, kissing me gently on the lips. "Gray..no chance" I mumbled as I moved him back and got off my char, grabbing the empty coffee cup. "You've got one more day before your finals and you don't even know the book through and through." I paused. "Give it some time, okay? You'll be fine by tomorrow, let's just go over the story line and some themes once I come back." I smiled and left to walk to the cafe counter. A tall, slim woman at the counter greeted me with a smile. "Can I have a top up please?" I say as she takes the cup from me. "Organic with soy milk, right?" The woman confirmed. "Right." I nodded. The cafe was small and lit with dim lights. It was cosy and warm but the sound of heavy rain outside hitting the windows and roof made me shiver, pulling my sleeves over my hands as much as they could to cover my cold, pale fingers. "Insane weather, right?" The woman at the counter claimed as she pointed to the window behind me that was covered in rain drops. "Right." I huffed out as I smiled before thanking the woman for the coffee and walking back up the short stairs to the little corner of the cafe where my boyfriend was seated, still staring blankly at the book in front of him. "How's it going?" I said, sitting down next to him on the sofa. "Nothing's changed." He mumbled, biting the lid of the pen. "Just read through the book, Gray." I suggested for around the 6th time today. "You mean, read the chapter summaries?" He smirked as he pulled up the first tab on his laptop which had each chapter analysed and summarised in neat little boxes. I chuckled at the goofy wink he proceeded to give me and rolled my eyes. "When will you learn." I whispered, playfully. "You cold?" Gray asked me, referring to the sleeves of my sweatshirt which I was holding onto. "It's raining like crazy outside." I said, as if on cue, the rain splattered even harder on the roof of the cafe, sending chills down my spine. "Well, at least we're indoors." Gray said as he slung his arm around me as he continued to read through the chapter summaries.
