Dipper's Summer Love

Home at Last

The world seemed to be moving by right before my eyes. I'm not just saying that because of the trees passing by outside my window, but at the past 6 years have gone by in almost a blink of an eye. Every summer Mabel and I would come back to Gravity Falls to see our old friends again, and every year was better than the last. Looking back at it all I wouldn't change a thing. I had made a lot of new friends and my Gruncles are like fathers to me and Soos, like my brother. Wendy was....someone special in my life. We always stayed in touch since I left back when I was 13, even after she went off to college. Everything just seemed to hit me now. My sister and I were 18 and going to be 19 at the end of the summer. We would be going to college at the end of the summer. I had already been accepted to multiple colleges. Mable on the other hand...she was having a bit of trouble. It's not that she couldn't get into a college, it's that she couldn't find one where she could major in rainbow and sticker research. She's an odd sister, but she's my sister and I wouldn't trade her for anything.

I was kicked out of my thought train when Mable shifted next to me. She had fallen asleep about an hour into the drive and has been laying on my shoulder ever since. She changed from cuddling my arm, to resting on my shoulder, to laying on my chest, then to our current position where she was laying on my lap taking up the rest of the seat. I didn't mind at all and instinctively started to caress her hair, moving it away from her face. She had grown up well since we were 12. She still wears here sweaters but now she always leaves a shoulder visible. She jumps around from wearing skirts to shorts to skinny jeans. Today she wanted to be comfortable for our last day of school and the trip so she wore pajama pants with 'Batman' written in yellow letters on her left leg. She has broken her fair share of hearts in the past couple years but never seemed to find "the one" as she put it, having always calling her next boyfriend her soulmate. I stroked her hair some more remembering all the late nights she would stay in my room crying into my shoulder after each break-up. I was always there for her and I always wanted to be.

I on the other hand changed a little more. I dropped the vest when I turned 18 and started wearing button ups over plain t-shirts with baggy pants. I went through a phase when I was 14 and had wristbands on each arm with two chains connected to my wallet. I also let my hair grow out to be way to long. I grew out of it in a couple months, thankfully. Mabel never went through this phase but more just started drawing rainbows all over my notebooks to make me look more "colorful" as she put it...it didn't work. I looked outside as I saw the familiar 'Welcome to Gravity Falls' sign. I gently rocked Mabel with my hand to wake her up. Her eyes slowly drifted open looking at me with tired eyes.

"What's up Dip?" she asked.

"Well you were drooling and I didn't want it to get all over me."

She just glared at me for a second and I couldn't hold my straight face anymore as I started laughing.

"Worst...brother...ever." Said Mabel.

"Come on Mabel, you know you love me"

"Only because I have to ya big dork" as she lifts her hand touching my nose letting out a simple boop. I giggled as her finger touched my nose.

"So what's the reason you really woke me up from my slumber?"

"I wanted to let you know we're almost back in Gravity Falls." At that her eyes shot open as she immediately woke up from her half sleepy state. She shot straight up, a little to suddenly smacking her forehead into mine. We both let out a slight moan in pain as a headache shot through me.

"OOOwwwwwww" We both stated between clenched teeth.

"When did you get such a hard head bro-bro?" She asked rubbing her forehead.

"Gotta keep all this knowledge safe you know, the thicker the skull the better to keep my brain intact." I smiled back.

"Okay smarty pants, can you let me up now so I can get my stuff ready before we get dropped off at our gruncles?" she asked.
