A/N This is the first fanfiction I've written in a long time, sorry for spelling and grammar errors! Also, there won't be any swear words. I know some of the characters use them but I prefer not to; so again, sorry!
(There will be some references to things that happened in Season 12. If you are trying to avoid spoilers you probably shouldn't read any further)

When I was a little girl my grandpa told me stories about an abandoned power plant on the edge of town. He would always tell me that it was a secretly a fort during the war and how it saved his dad and uncle's lives more times than he could remember. My mom didn't believe him but I couldn't help but imagine having a hero in my family. Grandpa tried to take me to see the "fort" once but it had a chain link fence around it with a sign that said "DANGER: UNSTABLE BUILDING" so we could only see the front part of the building. Well, years have passed and I had actually forgot about it until today when I saw a notification come across my phone that said "Northern Corner of Local WPA Power Plant Collapses, City Council Meeting To Discuss Its Demolition". I decided to go by and check out the building that was embedded into many of my grandpa's stories after school. After all, I could do my homework later and nobody will be home for a few hours.

Finding it took longer than I had hoped but I still had a couple of hours to explore. The DANGER sign was gone and there was graffiti on the outside of the building. One of the outside corners had definitely broke off and parts of some walls looked cracked but other than that it looked safe to enter.

Inside it was like most abandoned buildings; busted out windows, doors hanging on their hinges by one or two rusted screws, and a few walls had crumbled. There were some exceptions though: most of the interior rooms appeared untouched by the effects of age and still had working incandescent bulbs. Even stranger though, were the symbols. They were everywhere; on the floor, carved into doorways, and on the walls.

The largest room was also the room that looked like it was maintained the best, and the walls were filled with tall wooden bookshelves and old maps. It had two long desks turned askew and upside down, high ceilings, and a table with a map that you would see in the really old sci-fi movies. Based on the decor and equipment, it looked like the main hub/command center.

I found a long hallway with rooms that looked like bedrooms. The room numbered 21 had a tv sitting on a small chest of drawers, an unmade bed, and a small bookcase; the room numbered 11 had hooks in it's walls (like what people use to hang their plates on), a desk with a lamp, a picture of a blonde lady and a little boy propped against it, and another unmade bed. The room numbered 15 just had a dresser and a bed that was made.

After looking around for a while (and getting lost twice) I found what must have been the parking garage. Most of the parking spaces had an antique cars in them, which doesn't make sense because according to my grandpa this building was closed down a little more than 30 years ago and the cars looked to be about 100 years old. Well, they looked like the cars in our history books anyways. There was this one car in the back corner that seemed familiar, like I had seen it in one of Grandpa's old picture albums before. The lightbulb above it was burnt out, but it looked black. My curiosity had peaked and I decided to look at it a little closer.

As I got closer I saw that the car was really beat up, like someone had used it in a demolition derby. The top of the car was caved in, the hood and doors were missing, all the glass had been broken out, and it was covered in rust. But on the grill was the metal logo that read "Chevrolet" just like in Grandpa's picture. "Unbelievable," I muttered. There was also the remnants of silver trim along the bottom of the doors, bench seats, what I assumed to be cassette tapes in a box in the front seat, and a gun stuffed halfway in the bend of the seat. All exactly how my grandpa had described the interior, if you account for the years in between his story and then. That means it was almost absolutely the same car, which brings a new question: why is it here? Grandpa did tell stories that seemed to be about the building and this car but he never specifically mentioned them together. Just that two brothers used to drive across the country in their fathers old car and the building was assumed to be abandoned and around 2013 it started drawing power again.

I felt my phone buzz and saw a text from Mom asking where I was. I looked at the time and...great. It's 6:00 p.m., she's home from work. "I went for a walk and lost track of time, sorry. Be home soon" I reply, then make my way out through the maze of rooms and hallways. As I run through the door I came in I see something move in the corner of my eye. Stopping to turn and look I see a figure of a man. Was it a man? It looked like a man, but it also seemed to glow like it wasn't really there. I blinked and shook my head a little. Suddenly, he/it was gone. All that was left was the shadow of wings on the trees.

Whatever this place is, or rather, what this place was, it was definitely not just a power plant. Could Grandpa's stories really be true? Did I really just find an old war bunker?
