It's long, but it's funny and cute, so sit back and enjoy. Thanks for reading!
Persephone Claire Bloom (affectionately called Perci) was not one to easily pass up an opportunity. Upon receiving the news that her Uncle Jasper was getting married, she immediately screamed and leapt for joy. Upon Adelaide—who would be Jasper's wife in a short period of time—suggesting that Perci be the flower girl, she could barely breathe. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, and she was so ecstatic that she lost the ability to contain herself.
"Rosa?" Perci called through the house for her godmother one afternoon.
"Yes, Perci?" Rosa replied.
Upon locating Rosa, who was serenely seated on the couch with a thick novel in hand, Perci sat in the seat across from her. Rosa was not old at all, but she looked and acted old. For a woman in her late thirties, she had the largest assortment of wrinkles scattered across her features. She had dark circles under her eyes; her orange hair was slowly being overtaken by several gray follicles sprouting from the temples of her forehead.
This should not have shocked anyone. After all, Rosa took Perci in after the deaths of the young girl's parents, and with Perci being such an energetic child; it was no wonder the woman had so many worry lines. Not to mention Rosa was caring for this child on a strict budget (albeit, with help from Jasper).
Rosa's features always intrigued Perci. Most women she knew wore a lot of makeup, had dark, straight hair, and seemed to never look as austere as her godmother did. However, this was never a problem to Perci. Rosa's looks made her look less silly and ignorant. She was more realistic; she was much more down-to-earth than those other women.
This always allowed Perci to easily confide in her godmother. Other than playing the mother role in the girl's life, Rosa very easily (whether she knew it or not) played an excellent life coach. That was Perci's reason for always going to Rosa with any idea she had.
"I was thinking," Perci began, "Jazzy says he can't afford a wedding planner—"
"Or a wedding," Rosa muttered with a chuckle.
"—so I was thinking that I could throw a wedding together for him and Laidy."
Rosa put the book in her lap before giving her goddaughter a questioning look. Perci was only eight-years-old, and already she decided to become her uncle's wedding planner. Rosa scrunched her nose, squinted her eyes at the curly-haired child, and then returned her gaze to her book.
"So long as it doesn't cost anything, Perci.
Perci obtained an enormous grin.
"Really, Rosa?
"Of course," she nodded slowly as her eyes followed the words on the page. "Check with Adelaide and Jasper before you do anything. They may want something specific."
"Yes'm!" Perci beamed.

"Why?" Jasper asked with hope flickering in his eyes. "Did you have something in mind?"
"A backyard wedding won't cost anything the way I plan it!" Perci nodded vigorously.
"We could use my daddy's old washstand that he left Rosa in his will as a table for the cake, and Jonah is best friends with the son of a lady that makes really good cakes!"
"How good are the cakes?" he asked slowly as he eyed his niece.
Her smile became a serious line across her face.
