"I like this babe!" I happily bounce point at a ring. I tried to show him the kind of ring I wanted him to propose to me with. He took one look at it and shook his head.
"That costs a lot honey." My heart sank it wasn't even my favorite but he just shot it down. That's how everything goes I bring up things and he talks about money. I sigh and nod, tears pricking at my eyes. I just walk behind him as we walk out of ring shop. I grab his arm and walk holding his bicep. He's just lost in his own world. I tried to put thought of the ring out of my head but I couldn't. I should get a job so he won't worry about money so much! I decided that's what I'll do and I developed a plan on how to get one. I regained my bubbly personality and dragged him along to our next stop. Four weeks and twelve interviews later, I got a job! I didn't tell my boyfriend I wanted it to be a surprise. I got a minimum wage job at a grocery store. Better then nothing I guess. Today is my first real day, I've already been through training. I stand behind my counter, I'm a cashier. Three hours into my shift this creepy guy with his hand in his pocket came up to my register with only a pack if beer. I asked to see his ID. He looked around nervously and didn't hear me. I asked again. He jumped and looked at me.
"Sir can I see some ID please?" He was holding up my line. He finally seemed to see me.
"Give me all the money in the register and no one gets hurt." He mumbled to me so no one else could hear. I didn't understand. He pushed his pocket my direction. Instantly it clicked in my head. He has a gun. Panicked I freeze. This irritates the man and he says it harsher. By mistake he said it loud enough for the person behind him to hear. It was a woman who was buying microwavable meals. She screamed and the man pulled his gun out of his pocket and shot her. I screamed in response and he turned to me. Anger in his eyes he shot me in the gut. I collapsed in pain and he pointed his gun at me. " I wish you would have just given me the money." He pulled the trigger and everything went black.

Boyfriends P.O.V
I was excited I saved up enough money to buy the ring my partner wanted. It had taken me four weeks but I did it. They would be so surprised. I remember the day they pointed it out. My love was so excited. I tried to play it cool and tell them I couldn't get it so I could surprise them later. I'm so proud of myself. I get home a little later then usual with the ring in my pocket ready to whisk my partner away on a romantic evening to propose. I open the door to a dark and quiet house. I guess they just went out for a bit. So I waited and set up the house, rose petals and wine, I lit candles since my partner loved candles. Then I heard a knock at my door. I laughed they probably forgot their keys again. My forgetful little dork. I swing the door open to reveal a police officer. Concern floods my body. They tell me what happened their words ring in my head. Shot in the abdomen and the head. My world crumbles. I didn't even know they got a job. Was this my fault did my talking about money push them to try and help. The officers hand me a box of my loves stuff from the store. In it was a hallmark like card. After the cops left I collapsed on the couch. This couldn't be real. I read the card. My love was just trying to help. So I wouldn't be so worried about money. This is my fault. This is all my fault. Tears stream down my face hitting the card as I read. The last thing it says was Now you don't have to worry about how much the ring costs! I love you so much!! Xoxoxoxo. My heart shattered. This was all my fault.
