Prologue

I had know idea what was chasing me that day. All I know was that it wanted to kill me. I ran what felt like was forever, and no matter how fast I thought i was, he was always close by. I ran through the forest hoping to find a place to hide. I saw an abandoned building near by and ran as fast as I could hoping that he or it didn't see me. I pushed the heavy metal doors open and started walking backwards facing the door so I'd know if he was behind me. I almost felt safe when the doors opened wide and broke into pieces like it was made of cheap wood, and behind the door was that human like creature. He wasn't in a hurry anymore... like he was sure he had me... so I ran. I ran and ran, passing doors and hallways just running straight. I entered the last door which i thought was an exit. I was wrong... trapped and nowhere to go, he looked at me and said "Don't take it personally. It's my job to do this." I stared at him, scared. "Whatever they will pay you, i will pay you double... please just let me-"

"Time's up" he said raising a gun. The brightest flash consumed my vision.

CHAPTER 1 "Wake up"

"Wake up"

I could barely make out what he was saying.

"C'mon. Wake up"

I could hear him loud and clear now. My eyes opened as he repeated "Wake up." My eyes trying to adjust to the light, but all I saw was an old man sitting beside me. I tried looking around to see where I was, but I guess my eyes hadn't adjusted yet.

"My eyes..." I said clearing my throat.

"I know, you'll see clear in a bit" he replied

"Where am I?" I asked.

"Hmm. The most peaceful place known in the world i guess." he said.

"Who are you?"

"Call me Paul. Well It's time for you to wake up now" Paul said.

"I AM AWAKE." I said quite annoyed.

he chuckled while telling me to get ready. I started feeling heavy after, and I fell asleep. It felt like i was sleeping forever but then I woke up, laying on the floor... then I remembered. I sat up quick, but as I sat up but felt no pain. Then I remembered that creature that shot me right at the heart. I felt my chest to see how bad it was... But nothing... no bullet, no wound nor blood. I was frozen and confused. Then I remembered Paul. Was I dreaming? Who was he? Maybe... Paul... Maybe Paul is-

"Hey! Wake up! oh. Well why are you sitting around? Let's go!" A little girl with her high pitched voice stood by the door.

I stared at her, She was short, say 4'1? Her eyes were cute and chinky, her hair was just right and straight.

"What?" I asked her as a reply

"Let's go before he comes back! Trust me." she answered.

I followed her as she led me out, We went through the forest. I was amazed how a young girl like her knew her way around.

"How do you know where we're going?" i asked.

"He's telling me."

"Who is?"

"The man from the old book."

I didn't ask anymore, I felt like i was slowing us down by speaking. She led me straight home and we stopped in front of my door.

"Well open it up." she demanded.

"Wait, you can't stay with me. I don't even know who you are."

"Didn't you read the-... oh my bad, here" she handed me a note.

"Take care of her. She needs to get here safe - Paul"
