I open my eyes to find caged bars and men screaming everywhere. They were holding up thin green rectangles and one man has so many he put a rubber band around his. One guy in a scruffy beard, resembling Santa Clause, is hammering a block of wood and screaming out my brothers' and sisters' names. I turn around and watch them being yanked away from my mother and then joining me until my face is squished and my bother is wagging his tail and whipping me in the face. In a sudden rush I become unstable and fall. I stare out the holes to find I am moving. I see my mother, her blue eyes getting farther away. My father, running after us until his leash is pulled tight to where if he moves it chokes him. My mother is a speckle in the crowd until she disappears, forever.
The cage slams down and the air is hot and musty. I go into a panic attack and start barking up a storm and we ride away. I shut my eyes, wishing that this had never happened and wake up to my stomach begging for food. I find my self in a room with too many dogs to count. But I can barely make my way circling the cage, scavenging for food. The dogs are all about my side and on top of each other, throwing themselves at a glass door. I go around once more to find no one that I know. I start throwing myself at the door soon realizing that there is a tall, dark skinned, man with a black baseball cap over his head, on the other side. I nail my head so hard that everything just goes black. When I wake, my vision is blurry but slowly becoming clearer. Someone is standing over me and I look into the blue eyes. I hop up and examine the dog. They have very broad shoulders and a hole dug into the left ear. I ran in a circle again and the scent came to me. The mix of feces and fresh cut grass is overwhelming. This dog starts scanning me like I am some alien and then stares me straight in the eyes. I soon realize what is happening and who this is. He is my best friend. My brother. Buster.
