*Gabes POV*
I wandered around the small town recently struck by null sector forces. I was here with the US army in order to help collect survivors. We thought we found everyone until a horrid wail ripped through the air.

The sight I saw was horrible. There was a little girl (hehe I don't mean to assume ur gender it's just for the story's sake) that was collapsed on the ground, blood oozing from a stump of an arm. In front of her was corpses which I could only assume was her parents, and god I hoped that was only the worst-case scenario.

A few hours later I went back to check on the girl. She was sitting up, her head in her hands- or well hand. She hand tear stains down her cheeks and she looked exhausted. I sat in front of her and she looked up to acknowledge me. "What's your name?" I asked. "F/n.. f/n l/n, what is your name, sir?" She asked me. It appears as if she was taught proper manners, which I hoped was the case. I despised rude children. "Gabriel Reyes" I responded, "How old are you?". "9" she said. "Thanks for helping me Mr Reyes, I didn't know someone was here". "It's fine, it's what I do for a living. When I found you,  you were crying over corpses.. did those happen to be-?" I asked timidly. "No. Those weren't people I know. I screamed because of the pain, the corpses barely phased Me. I've never had parents, I was dumped at an orphanage and no one wanted me". She said. "Why didn't people want you?" I asked. "Bi-polar disorder". "At nine?" I asked. She nodded. "Damn.." I said before realizing I'd said that to a nine year old. "Sorry I didn't mean-" "it's fine, I'm used to it." She cut me off.

A doctor walked in before she could say something. "So we can give you a cybernetic limb but they're experimental.. we're not sure of the results" he said. "That's fine, I'll take the offer, if it doesn't cost too much". "No overwatch is willing to cover it". "They are?" I asked shocked. "Yes, mostly because you found her, she will be put into an orphanage near the head quarters".
He said. She nodded, but she looked dead
Inside and disappointed at that statement.
"Anyways I'll leave you alone again" he said before walked back out.

"You seem really excited about going back
To an orphanage" I said. She shrugged. "I was going to say I'm surprised people are willing to help me.. an insane orphan that no one-" "now I'm gonna stop you right there. You say no one wants to parent you but if you want to I'll be willing to take you in. I'm sure that overwatch will require you to train however" I said. I didn't want this girl to be alone anymore, she doesn't deserve it. She looked at me shocked. "Are you serious?" Is all she said. I nodded. "Okay then.." she said. She still seemed confused.

*time skip of a month so this isn't stupidly long*

I sat at my desk. I was so stressed out by everything recently. Y/n came in, I had adopted her after her arm was replaced. She insisted it be decked out with these badass claw settings because when she's a soldier it would be useful. Angela said "okay" and gave her whatever. I think it was a fun experience for Angela honestly.
