I walked down the dark alley to where my brother Sean was at. Of course he was at a sketchy place. He had called me telling me that he was in big trouble. He told me not to come down here, he told me it was dangerous but I already knew that, and that was why I had to come down. If I didn't, I was scared that I would find him in a ditch, dead, very soon.
My high heels were hurt my feet, I was walking so fast and they really were not meant for this. I really wish that I had had time to change before I came to get him, because I was in a black dress and high heels, and I regret how good I made myself look. I was at a party before this, hoping to meet someone to be honest. I had already been cat-called twice and I've only been out of my car for a minute.
I made it to the back door and there was a huge guy standing in the way. "The Casino entrance is on the other side, little lady." Yes I was very small, and you would never expect me to do anything this dangerous, but I had to. Plus, I got a big adrenaline rush from this. I felt like I was unstoppable, which again was not good at this time and place.
"I'm here for Sean, I have his money," I told him. He raised his eyebrows at me, "He's letting you come and deliver it? How much of an idiot is he exactly??" He asked, and his face showed that he was appalled. It was so strange seeing someone so tough worried about me. He didn't look that old, but he must have a daughter or something.
"I'm fine, now can I go in? He needs me." He stepped aside and opened the door for me, "He's a really lucky guy," He said. "He's my brother," I muttered as I passed him. I had to admit that Sean was really stupid for doing this. Again. He got out of debt, barely, only a few months ago and now he's $20,000 in debt once again. I had to go into my savings account from my grandparents to get him out of this mess. I was only 24 I shouldn't be spending this money, especially on something that wasn't my fault. He owed me majorly.
There was a short hallway and then it opened into a huge room and I saw my brother tied to a chair, his face looking like it was a bloody piece of meat that had been tenderized. "Sean!" I yelled and I could barely see his eyes open, but the pupils that I could barely see dilated, "No! Hannah get out of here, its not safe!"
I felt a presence behind me and I turned around to see a man that was physically quite handsome but you could tell that he didn't have a handsome personality. He had a scar running across his right cheek and a circle-shaped scar on his neck that must have been from being stabbed with something. People have definitely tried to kill this guy, many times.
"He's right, you know. This is no place for someone like you to be in," He said. Despite the concerned words that were coming out of his mouth, he had a wide smile on his face, making the scar on his cheek darken, making his whole face look beyond sinister.
"He's my brother, why wouldn't I come?" I asked, standing a little taller up, but I still didn't come close to being as tall as him. "Well, I just didn't expect this, I didn't expect someone so... To come and get this trash," he said, talking about my brother, and his hand came up, his thumb and forefinger touching my chin. His hands were so cold, and they were bleeding at the knuckles, most likely from what he did to my brother, but I doubt that he even felt any pain from them. I flinched away from his hand and he smiled even wider. Who the fuck was this man?? He was seriously messed up.
"I have the money. Can I get my brother and go now? He won't be back, I guarantee that." I said, quite cold, but still his smile didn't falter. He walked over to my brother and put his hand on Seans' shoulder. Sean flinched and I felt a jolt in my heart, I couldn't watch him get hurt.
I brought the stack of money out and held it out to him. The psychotic man looked at it, but then he bypassed it and looked me up and down, checking me out fully for the first time. "The price has changed," He said.
"That's bullshit this is all I have! That's all he owes you, that's not fair!" Tears were in my eyes and it seemed to just excite the man even more, so I quickly dried them away and pretended like I wasn't scared or sad.
"I don't want money now," He said. Sean looked up at him and he tried to struggle to get out of his restraints, I could tell that he was angry at him and that he desperately wanted to punch him, but that would not go well. He knew that, so why was he still trying?
"Now, Sean, that's enough of that. It's either your life, or my new demand." Sean was shaking his head so much. Even with being beat up and tortured by this guy, he was still defying him. He even started pleading, "Please Jack, anything but that!"
The man, Jack, laughed. "What the Hell is going on? What do you want instead of the money?" I asked. I felt like I was so much out of the loop. Even with him being a -well basically- mob boss, and him having many secrets, I feel like I should know what was going on.
"The price is you. I want you, by my side, 24/7, for a week," he said, simply, as if it was just a business agreement. But, it wasn't just that; this was my life! My heart was beating out of my chest. "Just get out of here!" Sean yelled at me... But I was just looking at him. He probably had a few fractured bones, his whole face was, as I said, bloody and beaten up. Jack was not afraid to get his hands dirty, and if I refused to do this, my brother would no doubt be dead by morning.
"I can promise you that you wouldn't get hurt, you haven't done anything wrong, I have no problems with you. Plus, I wouldn't want to hurt that pretty little face of yours," Jack said, making this decision surprisingly even easier for me. Nobody would get hurt.
"Why, though?" I asked him. He left my brothers side and walked in between us, not too close to me, but definitely closer. By the look on his face, he knew that he had this in the bag. Basically he could say anything; the truth, a lie, or absolutely nothing, and he would still get me.
"Because, Hannah, you're eye candy. To have you at my side in meetings would be beneficial for me. I like having a pretty little dame at my side, it gives me... power." I thought he was already powerful enough, why did he need me?? He went on, seeing my confusion, "The power I get, is possession. For this week, you are mine, so if someone gets too close to you, either physically or mentally, because I will know when someone thinks things about you that I don't like, then it'll give me a reason to... Take care of them."
I shivered, he would beat someone up just for looking at me the wrong way?? Could I live with myself knowing that I gave him a reason to hurt someone? I mean sure it was all him doing it, he was insane, but I was basically making him act on his insane thoughts. Being pretty really was a horrible thing at times, this moment definitely being one.
I looked back at my brother though, and I knew that I couldn't live with myself if I could do something to help him and I didn't and something bad happened to him. "Ok, I'll do it," I said loudly.
